i bought a Sony today, had a cannon before, was nice but wanted to try a Sony. girl a BestBuy said " Cannon has a glass lense and Sony has a plastic lense, the Cannon will have a better picture because of this" i said " their both 5.0 Meg, shouldnt matter"...bought the Sony

I've got a canon powershot A70, 3.2 mp. Why? Because it was given to me as a gift. It takes a great picture. My website guy likes it too, he says he doesn't need to tweak my pictures like he does everyone else.
Disclaimer: most of the pictures on my site weren't taken with the A70.

Cannon a80 power shot, got mine for around $350, its a cool carry along camera,IMO lots of camera for the $$$. Then I have a Sony pc120 dvc for video.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4. 4 Megapixel, 3x optical zoom (digital zoom does nothing you can't do at home, just makes your pics look like crap), huge 2in LCD screen, long battery life, and small enough to take anywhere. Bought it for it's combination of features but the size was one of the biggest attractions as I will actually take it with me and use it. I know that I wouldn't carry a bigger camera and if I'm not using it then what's the point?

It takes some pretty nice pictures but like any camera if you take some time to get to know it your pics will be much better. Outside pics in the sun almost always look great. Indoor pics can vary depending on the type of lighting inside, some flourescents tend to look much too yellow. Low light pics are pretty good though occasionally there is some "noise" in the pic. It will take some great pictures and has some really nice features. Many of the cameras out there today are pretty good but this was the one that fit my needs best and I couldn't be happier. It's all about figuring out what you want to do and picking the camera that matches what you want.

All of the pics taken for the ads I put on ebay for my cars are taken with a Nikon CoolPix 800. It's only a 2 mp camera, but takes just awesome pictures. I've taken well over 2000 photos of cars with this camera, and am rarely disappointed.

I have a Sony DSC-F707, you name it, it does it. Wife gave it to me for xmas in 2002...

5 megapixel, 5x optical + 2x digital zoom, macro, auto-exposure lock, several white balance adjustments, full-frame, center or spot weighting, aperture priority, shutter priority, full auto or full manual, exposure override, 3 priority "screen" modes, 3 shot burst with or without exposure bracketing, infrared night-framing and night shot, low-light hologram focusing, selectable or auto ISO speed, uncompressed TIFF capability, 6-step sharpness adjustment, voice-on-picture, mpeg movies in 3 different resolutions, clip-motion movies, adjustable flash, rechargable battery...

and it takes a pretty good picture, too! :D

Main problem with it is it's quite bulky, but I don't complain! And my HP prints up killer 8x10's from 1.2 meg photos. Only better digital pics I've ever seen came from a photo studio's 14 megapixel portrait camera. But some of the smaller cameras these days really take some good pics!

Kodak DC290. Why? Because buy.com had a melt-down one day (the price went from $649 to $149 that day!) and they actually honored the price! BTW, it still takes great pix.

I have a five year old Sony and a brand new Fuji and the Sony , by far, is a better camera. Low light seems to be a challenge with both cameras. Learn to use the White Balance feature to help with lighting. It takes tons of practice. Drew

Minolta G500. A great price, 5 mp, and a load of manual features. It takes a pretty good picture, and takes avi with sound. I got mine before xmas for $310, online.

I used a Sony Mavica for years because of the convenience. However, with the advances in technology, it just wasn't up to par. I bought a Fuji S5000 last October and have been VERY pleased with the pics it takes.

I have a Sony DSC P5 camera (since replaced by the P10). Its a small camera but will all the features. There are lots of reasons I went with the Sony. Just to name a few....

I tried out a bunch of cameras in person just to see if I could figure out the menus without resorting to the manual. The Sony had one of the better menu systems. It also ended up having one of the best LCD screens, nice and bright, even though it is smaller due to the small camera size.

The Sony batteries are info-lithium or something like that. They are cool in that the camera tells you how many minutes you have left with the battery. Already knowing that running out of juice in the battery can be a pain with a digital camera if you are using it a lot. I thought it was a major benefit. batteries also last long too.

The Sony camera came with an RCA cable to hook up to any tv to look at the pictures or movies. I use this a lot when I'm showing off pictures to friends or family and is quite handy.

Picture quality is excellent. This was a $400 or camera or so (don't remember exactly) so you expect good quality. I researched on the web and for its price range picture quality was among the best.

Its one of the smaller cameras out there too. The cheaper Sony's aren't near as good. I use my camera phone for point and shoot pics and the Sony when I want real good pics.

Same here. Gotta love mini cd r/w's.
It's probably slower than one that uses other storage, but the mini cd's are cheap, hold a lot and you can keep them for your photo albums instead of having to keep pic's on your HD, or burning them to disc. I like the size of it too, but I think most prefer small. Nice big LCD screen too. The mini cd's are also playable on my DVD player for an instant slide show, if you don't want to play it off of the camera.

*Wish there would be a camera that would store directly onto USB 2.0 flash drives. Plug it into the camera, then plug it into the computer. Use it for your pic's and whatever else. These things are handy and lots of storage availabe on them now.
