What do crossovers do and how do you wire them?

Does anything special need to be done as far as wiring is concerned with the crossovers? Each 3.5" dash speaker I purchased came with a crossover that had wiring going to one speaker on one end of it and positive/negative wiring going to an amp source on the other end. I'm asuming I just hook the "to amp source" end up to my new CD player's wiring harness. I've read that crossovers are meant for optimizing sound when using multiple speakers of a particular manufacturer. I'm using all Infinity Kappas, so am I supposed to hook up the crossovers in some special way or do I connect the wires coming from them as I would a normal set of speakers without a crossover? Thanks!

Just connect the crossover to the speaker leads of you CD deck. The crossover will prevent the speakers from playing frequencies they were not designed for. HTH
