Thinking of getting into a Typhoon. It would be a daily driver. Not looking for a 11 sec. truck.Stock for a while would be fine. Would like to have 1 car (winter, summer) And that truck is the best of both worlds. What do you guys/gals think about them? Do you think they would make a good daily driver? Thanks for any input:D

Nick ,I hear they sux in the snow, too low in the front but you could drive past my house and plow the street with that low front end....

Dennis--Sold you the Astro Roof....

:)

I liked mine. They're a much bigger pain in the butt to modify but the AWD was pretty fun!

Dennis, whats going on? What happend to your other screen name? Send me some info on your T. Aren't you selling it??? Let me know.....:D

there nice and fun when they run:(

i baught a blazer that was converted into a ty for a d.d. and the motor lasted me 110 miles or 3 days which ever you wont to count :(

read up on the sy/ty board and you will see that alot of the people on there do not really believe that they make good daily drivers

imo if you have the money to buy one in VERY nice shape and you are willing to put the time into it to make it fully realiable (in my case 3 months and counting of fixing crap) and are willing to have some down time every now and then..... then go for it

they are sweet when they run..... i do love mine tough since it is my first real car :D

here is a pic of mine

I love Typhoons but I would not drive one daily. The trucks are just simply getting too old now. Better for toy status.

If you want a modern version of the typhoon, or at least a reasonable facsimile, think about a 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5XT

Car and Driver tested a manual Forester that ran 13.8. I have a fully loaded automatic, it ran a 14.7 bone stock.

It's not near as cool as a Typhoon, but it is a reliable 4WD Turbo / Intercooled SUV.

I bought one for use as a daily driver. It did okay in the snow, but with somewhat wide tires without much sidewall it wasn't spectacular. It was a pain in the butt to maintain and didn't ever run to my satisfaction even when stock. I sold it after owning it a year or two.

I'm not a fan of red, but it sure looks good on a Ty!:)

same here i never really taught that i would own a red car (never any real intrest in it)

if i had my choice tough i think i would go with a white on white ty but not for a daily driver

I have one and it is fun to drive but it ain't no GN, the gas milage sucks full time AWD. It is too nice of a truck for our Chicago winters with all the salt and crap. Like Steve said it is better to keep it as toy.

Thanks...things of the past sorry to say. I miss'em both.

My Typhoon had 26,000 miles and was totally stock. It ran perfectly and the only problem was the CD player. It wouldn't play for some reason. The truck rode nicely, was fairly comfortable, had tons of cargo room and a decent back seat.

I really enjoyed the truck but the odd thing about it was the reaction from some people. The young kids liked it even though they didn't know what it was. To them it was a "pimped and slammed" Jimmy. The older guys didn't recognize it either and thought it was a "pimped and slammed" Jimmy. I wasn't allowed into some car shows because of this. When I was denied entry one time I told the guy it was a Typhoon. He said "what's a Typhoon".
