Were any of the stock cams causing problems with flattened lobes? If so what would it make the car run like?

Didn't have a problem with the stock cam, but managed to wipe a postons cam in about 3,000 miles. Ran on 5 cylinders and blew a HG at the same time.

Pull your Valve Covers and look for a rocker not moving much.

Im down now with a flat exh lobe. Stock 133k car. It was not totally flat. I had perfect clinder compression, perfect idle. But had kinda like a v8 sound under accel. WOT gave pop, ping, and generally squalid performance. Funny, the car ran ok one minute and then bad from then on. I chased ignition, injector notions. It fooled me good because low end and idle were near perfect and compression good. Now that i think about it, compression wouldnt have mattered. Seems like a flutter would have appeared in vac/boost gauge. NOPE.
Im not into Comp. They have screwed the Pontiac guys with their rollers that kill bronze distributer gears-another story. Cams are squalid!

I wiped my stock cam at ~ 110k miles. Car ran terribly, but it also had a cracked header and a bad coil pack. Bought the car from my brother, ran mobil 1 from the time it was new, go figure.

Had Jack Cotton fix everything (including a rebuild of the motor) and over 20k miles later and over 100 passes I am still grinning.
