I know it's been asked before. I'm sorry, I looked through the achives via the search button, but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

What ET Streets will fit on the stock T-type rim? This is going on a WE4 BTW, so I have a little more room to work with. I won't go quicker than a 12.50, so I am ASSuming I need a 26" tire. Would a 28" be better.
Was gonna go with the Nitto's, but now I'm not so sure.

Thanks for any help, sorry for bringing this up... AGAIN:mad: ;)

If you aren't going to go quicker than a 12.50, there is no need for an ET street. Why have a car that rides and drives like a drag car but isn't one?

I would go with the 275/60 nittos in your case. They will fit without rubbing on T wheels and the car will drive like it was built in the eighties and not the 60's.

It's a myth that "cars slower than 12.0 are faster with 26" tires" especially when talking about DOT tires and stock TR motors. Improved gear reduction of 26" tires does little good if they go up in smoke. 28 Inch tires allow higher boost lauches and are way more resistant to being "blown off". Stock TR motors run out of revs so quick that 28" tires are easier for the car to pull from about 90 mph on up. Easier to pull directly relates to higher trap speeds.

In the past I would have recomended BFG 275/60 drag radials, but since nittos makes them also, now, and they will last twice as long as BFG's the nod goes to the nittos.

I don't care too much about ride quality. They will be going on a spare pair of T rims just to go to the track and back. (About 15 miles round trip).
Will their be any traction difference between the Nitto's and ET's if I am only pulling say 1.7 60ft.s?

Nitto's still the better bet?

i had nitto's, i think they sucked at the track.......
they where good on the street,
if you want traction, get real slicks.
i think the bfg are better, then the nittos.
good luck on your choice.

I am still learning here, but this is my experience so far. I purchased my 87 GN last November all stock 170K project car. I took it out to the track back in May to get a baseline. Best E/T 14.8 at 94 mph, no boost at launch, unable to hold the tires and no experience at the track. I decided to make a few upgrades (see signature, minus the trasher put stocker back for Emmissions) and added a set of 26x10.5 MT ET Streets. I know that I went from a stock radial to basically a DOT slick, but I was able to hold almost 10 lbs of boost with these tires. Unfortunitely that was when only durning the burnout, I was bracket racing a civic which threw me off because of the delay in the tree and left on 4 or 5 lbs of boost. I was able to run 13.4 at 99 mph, I drove about 15 miles to the track with 30 lbs in the tires and back with 15 lbs. I don't recommend driving on 15 lbs but had no problems with handling on 30 lbs. If you are just looking for something for the track I would go with some slicks, plus it help take prevent the tires from breaking lose at the line, I don't believe an all stock or slightly modified car will break them lose will less than 10 lbs of boost and a good launch will really bring down the et's. Just my .02 Good luck!!
