I killed my trans today and was wondering what hard parts i should change if any. Also Should i use stock clutches from a rebuild kit or spend the extra money on better clutches. aprox 350-400 hp motor. trans failed due to over heating (pretty sure I didn't brake any hard parts, will know next week when I take it apart). Also need to know how to raise the shift point for this trans.

The only mod done to the trans is a shift kit other than that it has a stock valve body, governer, stock gears in rear, but a 212/212 cam so i would like to raise the shift pts. to match this cam. also 12in 2800 l/c converter. max rpm is 5800.

Well lets see. A billet forward drum, ring gear (i think thats what its called?), stator support tube, Alto reds for the direct clutch, raybestos blues for the rest, good servo & shift kit, and a quality overhaul kit should do it. That and a good deep pan with a 700r4 filter along with a ext. cooler and you'll be set.

Just my .02 but maybe Kris could chime in.

P.S. Kris, your deep rear sump pan holds ALOT of fluid!! It seemed to drain forever! Very, very, very nice setup.
