Doing it now. Remove bumper (4 nuts, lights, air dam), remove 3-7mm bolts and 4-10mm bolts, in the corners near the grille each have a plastic barbed piece. Thats it...well there might be a few more little things but in general that's it. Kip explained to me how to do all of this, not bad at all.

BTW, have someone help you take the bumper off, easier with 2 people.

REALLY heavy if you have the steel reinforcements. So glad I converted mine to the aluminum ones!

Thank you spent last weekend welding in new sheet metal , still more mud and sanding to do . BUT no more rust holes ! (for now).

I just want it to look good from the grand stands.

Supporting each end of your front bumper with jackstands will greatly help you when you remove the four bolts from each side of the bumper. Then tilt the bumper forwards and remove. Remember, as the guys here said, it IS heavy. Dont drop it.

Weight savings with alum reinforcements is substantial! Had pictures of them on a scale but can't find them right now. BELIEVE it was almost 40 lbs weight savings when using both.

Who sells the aluminum supports?

They are a stock GM part. Used on non GN Regals. You can find them on ebay or sometimes in the parts for sale section of this board.

I have installed front filler panels without removing the bumpers. Loosen the bumpers to gain some clearance. You do have to be careful to not scratch the finish on the filler panels. Taking bumpers off works well also, but takes more time.

+1 I didn't take off my bumper either. Loosened a couple turns and slid the fillers right in.

Done. I did not remove the bumper. just loosened it. 2 hours.

When I did my old 84 I didn't remove the bumper or loosen any bolts. Just slid them up under (IIRC) and bolted them in, then painted them later. They came out well.

Yea i installed mine without loosening or removing the bumper i took the grill springs out and the headlight bezels fit just fine and mine were painted but the came out fine especially if your careful. Now to fix my antenna :frown:
