Im looking at a 86 GN and I want to make sure that it is a true GN and not a clone. The problem I have is the site I found list it as a T-type and I dont know if that is normal or if i should be worried. Also I thought they had the power 6 emblem on the horn pad. Im just nervus I dont want to get screwed on my first GN.

I believe the 8th digit will be a 9 indicating the turbo motor regardless if it is a T type or GN. Their is a specific #/letter code for the T Type at the beginning of the vin.... I forget right now... check GNTTYPE.org

Eighth digit of VIN will be a 7 if it's a turbo car.

Make sure VIN on the RPO tag in the trunk matches the one on the car. If it does look for option code WE2. This is the option code for the GN. You'll also want to make sure it has the G80 code for a posi rear.

forget the vin as the determining factor , it will only tell if its a turbo car and what year
eight digit 7 is an intercooled 86-87 turbo (9 was for hotair turbos 84-85)
open the trunk and look for the spid label on underside of decklid
you want to see hat the vin in top corner of that lsticker matches the dash vin, then look for the we2 code for GN package , you could also look on there for the g80 code to see if it has posi , no g80 then it was an open rear from the factory as only the last 87s GNs built after sept 87 came std with posi
edit :apparently gunslinger was quicker on the draw and beat me to it :)

Oh man! My mistake, I got mixed up with my Hurst Olds. 442's and Hurst were a 9, TR's were 7's as stated previously and of course the Hot Air cars. Shouldn't post when I am up past my bed time:redface:
