Nick,

Does Trufilter have a direct replacement filter? I don’t see one? Thanks

Their catalog Buick listings are really not good?

For a stock GN filter the Trufilter number is TFMD27, this is one with a thread insert which is 18X1.5mm.

The thread insert is changeable, so the basic filter and housing can be used/converted for most domestic and import vehicles.

The people at Jegs need to be "informed" of what you want with specific numbers and filter thread size. most likely, it will be shipped directly from Trufilter.

The one that I have used is a Trufilter, available through Jegs.

Mine is remote mounted as the TA pump feeds into the rear of my block.

Did on for a G-8 Pontiac and it was a direct bolt-on. With less restriction, you will see an increase in oil pressure.

It is also full-flow and no bypass is used. I take the turbo oil supply from there so only filtered oil get to the ball-bearings.

Do you sell a kit w instructions for this Nick? More filtering is always better... thx

You can contact Trufilter direct at 661-742-8169 and talk with Gary. If he is out of the office, he will call you back.

The unit can now be purchased direct from them, and he will give any info you need.

Installation is simple. Screw on a base unit that stays on the filter housing. The canister containing the cleanable filter is screwed onto the base unit.

It is only hand tightened, as an O-ring is used to seal it. My start up oil pressure is 90-100 psi and no concern of it leaking!

Nick,

Is that with the factory bypass valve or did you delete it?........

On my alum engine I run the external-type TA pump with stock length gears, and the oil feed line is run to rear of the block.

The pump assembly has an adjustable by-pass and a line which returns directly to the pan. Only filtered oil goes to the turbo and engine.

Before I started using the Trufilter, I have had the cartridge filters, racing versions, collapse, and some even clog up with so much residue that the oil pressure was non-exsistant?

I NEVER run more than 25 passes without changing oil and filter - not just cleaning the filter. :)

Sorry Nick, I missed your running a trick set up..

On a stock set up, can you eliminate the factory bypass with the trufilter??

On the few housings I have laying around, when I push on the bypass with my finger it seems like it takes very little to move that bypass plug, like most of the oil is bypassing the filter..

Back in the day my friend removed my bypass and I ended up blowing a filter on the line. It seems like the right thing to do with the right filter.

From what I've read, you dont need to eliminate the factory bypass with trufilter flows or any billet highflow filter. They flow so well the factory front cover by-pass will not open.
