The only non-original part on my car is the fuel tank/sending unit. Both were replaced last year when the original owner took the car out of storage to prep and sell. Is there a way of seeing what kind of pump my car has without dropping the fuel tank? If I do have to drop the tank, will I be able to see what pump it has from the top? Although I am a decent do-it-yourselfer, I have never had to replace a pump or fuel tank. If I am totally off base, how can I find out what kind of pump I have?

Tanks has to come out, remove sending unit and see if there are any numbers on the pump.
It the only way to be sure

How difficult is it to do? I'm assuming the tank drops down pretty easy, but how hard is it to get the sender off?

blow off all the dirt and sand around it and youll see a ring that holds it in and you tap it in a circle with a large screw ddirver and hammer,Just be careful when pullling it out of the tank,It a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, lift pll and twist
