Well my buddy 87grandnational told me about this site.. Hes trying to covince me to trade in my SRT-4 for a buick gn or something. He told me a lil about them and how easy they are to mod. But Im just wondering. What makes the buick so special besides the rwd. When 87grandnational had his 87 before that guy ran over him. His was still stock. When ever we went from a roll. i would always pull a car to 2 on him. But then he started modding it. and i was quickly left behind. Now i am faster than him now that he doesnt have a buick. but i wanna know. what makes the GN's so much better than the SRT4. Not trying to start a flame war here... but im just asking.

Buick's are the worst car on the planet.

None of us here like them.

plenty of reasons to like em, and not like em...you have to like the looks to really be into them...after that its all about cheap mods to make it a reliable 12 second car...and it doesnt take much more money to get it into the 11's and still daily driven.

i personaly LOVE the looks of them.. they look evil.. sinister... however my black srt4 doesnt look all that bad either. but it doesnt have t-tops either :(

Matt! lol try not to post something like this, you will more than likly get smartass replies. lol mabey from me. no offence but try to use the search button. Btw to answer your question. its alot about the looks. the rarity. and The priceless look on someone that has a BBC or ls1 when they get beat by a v6 buick :D alot like that dude said, they can be made 11s streetable with a very small budget. The only downside is.. that these cars are 17+ Years old! so things are bound to break if they wernt taken care of. But the thing that the SRT4 doesnt have that the buick has is

RWD, everyone knows RWD > FWD on the take off. However most FWD cars tend to be lighter than RWD cars due to the less amount of metal. Also they tend to have less drivetrain loss.

Stock to stock from a Dig, a GN will MURDER an SRT4, however from a roll the SRT4 should pull the GN pretty good. But its all on what you like. I personaly like being able to do a dough nut every now and then. But hey you could do the same thing.. but it would be with the E brake and McDonals Trays.

Hope this answers your question

If you're under the impression that these are just 17 yr old, 6 cyl, rear drive, auto trans, drum brake, boxy-musclecars; then here's my sarcastic reply: these cars are slow, heavy, ill-handling, gas guzzling cars that are difficult to tune and hard to find performance parts for-stay away-buy a Mustang or Camaro. It's fun driving a modern musclecar and driving by literally 100's of cars just like yours everyday, right?
OR
If you're genuinely interested in something different, then you can drive something that, with literally just a few hundred $ in mods(and a little help from the Turbobuick community)you can have a car that is dependable, comfortable, fuel efficient(14 mpg city, 21 mpg hwy), and with just a chip swap, run 12.97@107 with 18 lbs boost, pump gas, and stock sized street radials. My car is a 100k mile Turbo T(T-Type), which unlike the GNs, can be found in other colors than just black.
BUT
If you can't get past the boxy G-body styling, there's always the Turbo Trans Am, which comes with better aerodynamics, handling, and brakes; and comes in any color you want, as long as it's white.

What makes the Buick so special?

CHICKS DIG 'EM!!!

To me, there's just something so badass about the turbo Buicks that I knew in time I would HAVE to own another. I guess it's a combination of the muscular looks and incredible straightline performance for just a few hundred dollars. Did I mention how tough these cars look? And the sound of that big 'ole turbo spoolin up sounds like a 747 taking off.

think about it, how much did your srt cost? 20-25k well you could find a good not great, buick for about $7k drop $1k into it and have a 12 second car for $8k, not to mention the menaceing apperance of the gn, some of the ricers today still have that:eek:  look on their faces when they see my gn and when i blow past them they have that:eek:  look, believe me you get more respect on the streets and more fun dusting off these high priced ls1's and mustangs you'll have a collection of them:D .

on the other hand a new car is always nice to have you might be better on gas than we are, it all depends on what is your need for speed what do you like?

Simple, In my book a GN is the car for a true car lover..... If you are a true car nut ( I mean your car is your life , aside family) The TB is the car... The friends that you make, the fun that you have, and the love & respect that you develop for the car hooks you....

P/S Watch the LS1 bashing, they move out too :D

"....but i wanna know. what makes the GN's so much better than the SRT4."

Everything!?!

If you haven't figured out by now, you never will.
Stick with your SRT.
I have heard thzat they are reasonably quick.
They just don't have any class, which I am sure that you have already figured that out, or you wouldn't be here on a Buick site.
