Let me just say before asking my questions is this is where i get a little fuzzy on turbos.

Who runs an adjustable wastegate actuator and who uses that grainger valve thing?

the vavle seems easier and less expensive rather than spending 80-90 bucks on an adjustable WG.

so come educate me guys! lol ;)

Your question is a little difficult to answer b/c an adjustable wg is usually needed to adjust boost beyond the chip programming when using the factory boost solenoid. You can bypass the boost solenoid then use only an adjustable wg but you may need to use a lot of extra tension to keep the wg puck closed. This is called tuner style.

I use grainger valve because I wanted to bypass the boost solenoid to quicken the spoolup and I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ to try it.. I'm not the type of person to spend $$ on something if I can make something cheaper... I may try tuner style but I dunno yet..

hths' a bit..

i still need to learn alot about raising boost and what exactly is used to control/raise boost levels...

thanks!

I have an adjustable wg rod and a Ramchargers electric BSTC. There is nothing like changing your boost from inside the car as you are boosting. No more burnt hands :D

You can make your wastegate adjustable for about $5. Do you understand how the wastegate works? Look at the turbo comparison charts on gnttype.org and you'll get a little better understanding of how it works.

External 'gate here.
Turn the knob and up goes my boost. By turning the knob you are increasing pressure on the puck. So it will take more pressure for the puck to open and release pressure, so therefore, more air getting forced into the motor instead of being released via the 'gate
