I might be able to get a 87 GN that has been sitting for some time. What should i do before attempting to start it. And from just sitting what can possible be wrong with it? Thanks

The first thing you need to do before cranking it is to prime it using a prime tool or disconnect the injectors & an oil psi gauge.

Hopefully if you have good gas , radiator fluid, trans fluids all topped off etc.. After its primed then I would crank it watching EVERYTHING.

Maybe someone else will chime in.

How long is "some time?" A few years? I would definitely change the oil and possibly pump the old gas out of the fuel tank if it has been years. Some people even put an ounce of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder before cranking. Make sure the orange wire to the ECM is disconnected up near the battery. Then, turn the engine over without sparkplugs in to lube it and build some oil pressure. Put the plugs in, hook up the orange wire and try to start it.

There are a variety of things that can happen with idle time. Things like seals dry out, fluids go bad, accumulators on the Powermaster go bad, etc. If you do buy it, you'd definitely want to do a good spring cleaning on it and keep an eye on things for leaks.

i would add the oil too the cylinders and turn it on the crank, but depending how long, it had been sitting! but fuel for sure and or octane booster!
