With the trans brake on at what RPM should the boost guage indicate you are building boost ? I have 76 q trim turbo with a 4500 stall convertor and at 3k RPM my boost guage does not move at all. The fuel pressure guage starts to climb a few pounds but no indication on the boost guage. I blew into the guage line and the guage started to climb. The boost guage is plummed into the vacume line that has the y in it at the drivers side of the motor.

I'd say about 4000 rpm for a 76Q....at 4500 you'll prolly have 20 lbs

Thanks Does it matter that the stock wastegate is set at 20 lbs max? That is about as low as the rod can be adjusted to. I will use just 20 lbs for now to try to get the launch sorted out.

with that big a turbo, you prolly need a bleeder valve to hold the WG shut (particularly at that low boost)

with a bleeder/grainger the WG sees no pressure until boost reaches a set level....will definitely help your spoolup

woody thanks. I have an innovative boost controller on order and will install that with a wastegate. Then I will eliminate the stock wastegate. Hopefully that will take care of that issue
