I finally took my car to the track yesterday. The trans shifts good except from 2nd to 3rd. There isnt any flare or delay, it just doesnt seem to shift quick enough. Id figure im losing at least a tenth or 2 due to it. I was thinking of installing a shift kit in it to try and get it to shift hard through all the gears. Is there any kits out there better then others, or am I just wasting my time? Just looking for some input from the trans experts out there. Thanks in advance.

There are a few good ones out there, the vendors on here are a good starting point, PTS has a good kit, and CK also has a good kit that is very easy to install. I also like the bigger 200 3 speed servo. Art Carr kits are also very good IMO, I used to run one and it shifted very good for a stock trans with only a shift kit. I would stay away from B&M and Trans go etc....

I can tell you from experience,
the PTS kit and Transgo Reprogramming kit 200-4R HD are almost exactly identical.

Leave out the middle checkball on the valve body, and install a super heavy 4th accum spring, and you have turned a Transgo into a PTS.
I have bought, installed, and compared both. I have also compared the OLD TransGo kit and it is completely different.

I've compared the TCI and Art Carr. Art Carr is also similar to PTS/Transgo.

I have not used Chris's kit but have spoken to him in depth about 200-4R calibration and wouldn't hesitate to use his stuff. I use his hardened parts in mine.

My suggestions from experience.

You can use the Transgo, PTS, or AC with almost the exact same results.
I would avoid using the PTS .570 boost valve. Their spring seems to be good pressure wise, but some members here have had problems with the boost valve sticking. It's a little too big, and leaves paper thin metal at the edges of the sleeve.
I also would not shim the TV plunger spring, unless your stock one is very weak (in that case I would use a different spring...)Transgo SK or HD kit includes a new one...

I would personally use a less firm 4th accum setup, but it depends on what you want. Bang shifts to 4th.

The TransGo or Superior 4th accum spring setup like a stock GN works great.

If you have a fairly loose converter (stock GN or looser) you can get by OK with blocking the 1-2 accumulator.

If I were buying one today, it would be a CK, then next in line would be a Transgo. The TransGo includes the TV boost valves.
