Thanks for all the helpful advise!

I just got my first Turbo car! I'm pretty excited! Been reading all the helpful advise. This site is the best! Thanks again!

You got the scanmaster. Good job. Do you have an adjustable regulator? Set the static FP (line off) at about 42psi. And get a TT chip. Its the best $80 you could ever spend on your TR.

No I do not have an adjustable fuel reg. :frown: Just this little jobby....

I'm guessing that's the stocker....right?

And this is the chip I have:

Not sure what it is but I'm told it's not stock. My engine has the #36 lb blue top injectors. Current boost level is 14 lbs.

I plan on getting the hot wire kit.

I also plan on doing the spring cleaning.

As far as the fuel pump....do I need to drop the gas tank to do this?

Can I take the pump that is in there now and verify what it is somehow?

I have an Autometer 3780 tach, hope that's a good tach.

Yeah, that looks like a stocker. I have the AccuFab regulator on my car. Nice piece. Do the hotwire and the pump at the same time. Yes, you need to drop the tank to do the pump. Not too complicated, just take your time. Two straps hold it to the body and you got to disconnect the three rubber lines as you lower it. Replace them if necessary. Getting the sending unit out may take some doing, but is pretty straightforward. Whereever you buy the pump, it should come with instructions. Dont reuse the pulsator though. If its a Walbro pump, it will say "walbro" on it. Otherwise its stock.

And yes the 3780 is a good tach.

And get rid of that chip for you engines sake...

What is the pulsator you speak of?

What is wrong with this chip?

The pulsator is a plastic device that goes in the fuel line just above the pump, inside the tank. Its supposed to quiet it down, but it restricts flow at the same time. Its not needed, and most of the pumps come with a length of hose to eliminate it.

The chip is of unknown origin and quality. Its better to spend $80 on a modern TurboTweak chip burned for your combination than $5000 or so on a new motor. Spend the $80 and sleep well at night.:)

Its a brass one way check valve, i would check it to see if it works..

The parts store pcv valves leak under boost, and the GM ac delco ones work a little better.

Ive always used the ATR check valves in my cars, keeps me from changine out gaskets and seals:biggrin:

I don't know if it does work or not, I just took it out and I have to blow hard to get anything to go thru one way (it's like the valve is stuck) and the other way is nothing. It doesn't rattle when you shake it like a typical PCV does.

Is it important to keep it? Or is it solely designed to be a better part than a stock PCV? Because I just went ahead and went down to the Buick dealership this morning and picked up a new AC Delco PCV and put it in it's place.

I would have kept the ATR piece in the car, under boost, the GM pcv valves will leak under high boost. But they are better than the napa ones

If it leaks pressure while under boost, you will putting pressure on the bottom half of the motor, probably pushing out the dipstick and oil past the rear main seal.

So yes, IT IS solely designed to be a better part than a stock PCV?

Dont worry, its not supposed to rattle like a standard pcv valve

Ok, well I didn't throw it in the trash. I still have it. But Turbo Dave was telling me if anything I should use it inline with the PCV hose, but not as a PCV replacement.

You can do that too, but i dont think the atr one is a metered air like the stock pcv, your blm's might change now with the new pcv valve.

I would read this Block Learn Multiplier and Integrator

and if your concerned with the car running rich or lean while driving around town, post back here and we will try and help. Hopefully with your current chip its not running poor.
