everything i have is in my sig. thought about big mouth cold air kit, but wanted to see what you all think, thanks

With what you have in your sig (except I have the hooker exhaust) I bought the SMC alky kit. I was able to run 21 pounds of boost. Best bang for the buck on my car.

alky for sure!

other coices:

Big neck intercooler upgrade - Ive heard its a great bank-for-your-buck mod.
air bags - for better traction
bigger turbo - if your looking to go faster than mid 12's
injectors - same as turbo

BOOSTD

I wouldn't bother with the cold air kit(just my opinion). . Alot of posts on that subject, read a few and see what you think. I just have a duct from under the front of the car that blows cold air on my filter when I am going. You can see the air temps drop on the Scanmaster, doesn't do much when your sitting still though.
I would change the flowmaster mufflers to Ultra flows or something like that if you race through your exhaust. Flowmasters are proven to not work well on our cars because they produce back pressure.
I plan on putting the hooker system on mine shortly, a big neck mease intercooler, alky and 57# injectors to go with my TA60 I am putting on this weekend. I have done alot of reading on all this stuff and you can find pros and cons for everything it seems like and stories where guys gained alot and some guys didn't gain anything. My advice would be to read up on what you are thinking about adding and choose for yourself. It all depends on how fast you want to go and how you want to get there.
I would say that the best mods are the ones that allow the car to breath easier and push more air. Start with a good base then build from there.

I also agree with alky. It gets the job done whether you're stock or have alot of mods. I went from getting knock at 9 psi with my race chip to 18 psi with no knock. My car broke down less than 2 weeks after installing it so I didn't have time to tune the kit for maximum boost. BTW, it didn't break down due to alot of boost. I guess running a bigger turbo,i/c, etc., etc. on a 160,000+ mile engine kinda took its toll. Also, if you're on a tight budget and can't get the SMC kit they have several do it yourself kit instructions out there. This way you can do alky and maybe have a little moolah for something else.

GNSCOTT awsome page, but i have a question for you, you talk about fuel upgrades which i have done then you talk about flow in and out of the motor i have a solid maf pipe and a k&n air filter, do you think that i should go for the cold air kitlike you suggest for my airfilter is in the stock location and closed

For less than a $100 you can box the rear control arms and poly bushings in them and get rid of any rear wheel hop. Worked on mine.
Tarey D.

I would definitely go for a 3" down pipe and high flow converter. You will be amazed at the difference this mod will make. Just ask yourself when shopping for one, "have I ever been disappointed when I have bought the best?" You get what you pay for.:D

Do you still have the Flowmasters? I'd get rid of those.

Do you have a gutted cat/test pipe?

Ported turbo elbow?

A cone K&N is worth .2 - .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile vs. a stock, unmodified airbox.

i think that i would still like the cold air kit, plus i know i need to get rid of my flowmasters but i am kinda at a budget of around 250.00 and i know hookers are about 300.00, boxed control arms and bushing might be a good ideal, but dont know if it would reallly me most affective for my goal which is to run a 12.7-12.8 in 1/4 mile

My vote is for the Big Mouth cold air kit. I personally know the guy who makes these and he offers a good product and customer service.:D :D :D

I would also go for a DIY alcohol injection kit.

Scott, nice web page and write up. Wonder whose cold air kit you used?:D I hear you sold your car!!:(

mark i just emailed you with a question, would you please check your email and respond, thank you
