What size tires?

What is the largest street tire I can put on a 16x8 rim? I have 255-50-16 bf drag radials on it now, and dont really like them. They only make the drags and some all season tires in this size now. Can I go bigger?? This is just on the rear.

grab a pair of NITTO 275 60 15 DR's and rip 'em up! I have also heard of guys gettin on 295'50'15's. I am goin with the DR's.

A lot of people go 265/50 on that rim.

With a 16" rim, there is a 305/50/16.... I thought Mickey Thompson made it, but can't be sure. There was also an upgrade from the 255s originally on the 86 vette, I thought they were Mich's. Call tire rack and a salesman can look up that info as it isn't on the website.
