84 G-Body with 231 V-6 and 200M trans, what speed is stock converter? Have rebuilt unit and the trans shop says 1500 RPM!
What speed on converter?

That's about right, 1500 rpm. Judging by your user name, you must be driving a car similar to one of mine, '84 V6 Olds Cutlass? A beautiful, comfortable car that, unfortunately, can't fall out of a tree fast.
