What tach do you use?

What aftermarket tachs does everybody use , what do you like about its features . I am considering buying Auto Meters Generation 3 Ultimate Playback Tach, it has a lot of neat features . TIA

I assume you already have DirectScan or TurboLink so I would assume you should be cool with a multi featured tach. I have a 2 5/8" 8000 on the side of the instrument cluster under my boost gauge.

I really don't see the need for playback tachs unless you have a race car without one of the above or other logging systems.

I also have a 2 5/8" tach but in the A pillar along with a big boost gage. I have yet to get the tach to function though. Is there something you are supposed to mod to make it work with the Buick ignition? The tach works fine when a simulator is used in place of the tach lead.

Hey fuzzy,

Did you clip the brown wire I think it is on the back of the tach? I can't remember which one off the top of my head but in order for it to work right, you have to clip that. Well on autometer gauges anyway.

Do you get any signal when you tach wire is hooked up? If not, it might be grounding out somewhere.

Crazi, I have the autometer 5" tach. It hasthe brown and orange wire on the back . right now its about 700 rpm low at 2700 on scanmaster. Are you sure its the brown wire because they are short.

They are short for a reason.
