What the heck is this???

Found this on my back porch hiding behind the recycling bin. Never seen one of these before, but he fought like crazy not wanting to go into the pail. Of course, I made the other half do battle and capture him! An up close picture of his face reminds me of the creature from the movie "Predator". Once I disturbed him, he emitted a really nasty odor. Anybody know what this is???
