Back when my General's became unsafe on my 1979 Buick with "only" 53,000 miles because the steel wire of the belts was coming through the 6/32 thread, I got Firestone 721 tires. They wore and rode like iron. Ok, that was 30 years ago so Firestone may have gotten softer. I am going to look more for as close of a match to factory as I can get. The BFG sounds good.
Is there a certain ride height the frame is supposed to be off the pavement? I think my springs are still good, but an exact number would be nice to know.
The $70 tires were not on sale so they were $70X4.
