Well then....... Razor is your contact. See post just above yours.

Methanol is the liquid. No additives, oils, lubes, etc.. Straight ;)

And if you don't have any place that sells meth, denatured alcohol from Lowes, Home Depot, etc. works too...which is what I ran for awhile...albeit more expensive ($15 a can) versus meth ($3.75 gallon here...finally found one station 60 miles of me that sells it) but either way it sure as hell beats dealing with blown head gaskets....or worse....

Option 2 IMO is the lowest temperature Window Washer Fluid you can find. The -30 is hard to find but is almost dead on 50/50 Meth/Water and a touch of blue dye.

Anything with water mixed in will lean out your tuneup. Meaning if you tune the car on 100% alcohol.. then go to 50/50 your air fuel will rise(lean)

Another in a pinch option is the product HEET available through stores like WalMart..

If you buy 5 gallons.. it will last you many months..

Make sure it's the HEET in the yellow bottle not the red bottle. The yellow HEET contains methanol and the red "Iso-HEET" contains isopropanol. Gold Eagle - HEET

The VP Meth at Maple Grove said it is w/lube. We don't want that on the new Razor and SMC kits right?

Good info above thanks.

Razor hit us back on the lube aspect, I thought it didn't matter on your kits concerning the lube.

How do you tell if it's M1 or M3?

I did buy some meth a few weeks ago for my car, it was from a VP pump but just said methanol on it.

Razor hit us back on the lube aspect, I thought it didn't matter on your kits concerning the lube.

See its like this. The pumps are chemical pumps. The diapram in the pump is made out of a material called Santoprene. Santoprene has a great rating with alcohol(methanol, ISO, Ethanol, etc) but is not rated or suitable with petroleum(gasoline, oil, etc). What happens is if the diaphram of the pump gets submerged(constant contact) with oil/gasoline.. it will shrink and harden. This will cause the pump to leak. The effect takes time. This is why contamination is the #1 killer of these pumps.

There are no seals rated for both alcohol and gasoline. Example look at Nitrous solenoids. The Methanol ones have Buna seats, the Gasoline ones have Viton seats. There is no solenoid rated for both.

Unless you get into polymers like Teflon that can resist both chemicals. Unfortunately there is no pump made with a teflon diaphram.

So.. the lube question.. I have had customers who have run alky with lube and no issues. I have had those that the lube has reacted with the Santoprene. Just like I have seen methanol from various sources have different effects on parts. In '05 we had to make a change becuase some methanol from Philips 66 would cuase the valves to swell.. a new valve was designed.. since that not a single valve failure.

Santoprene.. some pumps are still out there from 2003 still kicking.. even with the old style valve.. Some after 2-3 years fail and leak.. there is no pattern to what and when.

But from the pumps I have seen come back, 99 percent of the leaky pumps I have had when opened smelled like fuel. Methanol has a way different odor.

In 5 years 4000 pumps. I see maybe one pump back in every 2 months. In 5 years back under warranty(1 year) I have seen one pump. After the year period have seen some.

Not perfect, but nothing is. Pretty close tho considering how hostile an environment an engine compartment can be.

Hope this educates :D

Am I the only one running with a 50/50 mix of distilled water and 90% isopropyl ? Been running that way for about 7 years or so without any problems with a DIY kit. Plenty of 24lb boost runs without any knock.

Your motor will make more power on straight methanol. Becuase it doesnt knock doesnt mean its making maximum power. Run it at the track, or dyno.. swap the juice being shot in and retune. You'll see bigger numbers.

Dont get me wrong, water does work. It may get you your fix.. but when looking at performance.. one wins over the other.
