I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Only info I have right now is it's grey and has the numbers 0237-k stamped on it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Anyone? Maybe I'll try and get to the other side on the converter and see if there is anymore identifying marks.

Where did you get it?
Was it in the car when you bought it? If so, might the po know?

It was put on by Street Performance here in IL - They closed shortly after they "finished" my car. For all I know it could be the same one that was on there when I brought it in. They were pretty shady. I guess it's not too important since I'm waiting on a call from Dusty, I'm just pretty curious what it is. And I want to make sure it's not a stellar converter, and find out I'm wasting money by getting a new one. Since no one seems to know what it is I'm guessing it's a paperweight.

I had one...but it was a 3400 stall. Dean at DRC transmissions had a guy that worked for a big name converter company making them on the side. Ran some good numbers with it for what I had.

Once out of the car, you may find it marked elsewhere. That could help in Id'ing it.
Have you checked the tran psi, to be sure it's not that, that's causing the hi slip %??
What does the tach show at 0 boost/0 vac, stall test? [Not sure what Dusty uses for stall test. You might ask him, B4 you take it out.] [Data log the test.];)

I'll have to check. How do you test the trans PSI? Is there a loaner tool I could get at autozone or something? - Thanks.

you'll need a set of this tool and it can be found at end of your left and right leg...LOL .
read rpm gauge at 0 psi

They are talking trans pump pressure, NOT converter stall speed.

I'm guessing AZ might have a loaner?? It's like a compression tester for trannys. It hooks into the cooler lines and you check the pressure in all gears, engine idling with the T.V. cable unhooked and then you pull the T.V. cable to max by hand. Really a two man operation.

It showed about 3000 on the way up and 3200 on the way down -

edit: Oops, I was moving on the way down.

You need to make a full hit on the car and log it to show all the information viewers need to help you. I'm betting it will have slippage in the low to mid 20% range in high gear at anything over 21 psi. I have been where you're at now. Then I switched to a PTC then a Art Carr, then a Pro Torque, then a ATI. If you're going to get one from Dusty you should let me go a few rounds with him first. He just supplied my uncle with one that I call the "Chicago Style PTC" and we love it. With much respect to both gentlemen...It was not what Dusty would tycally send for the combo and not as extreme as Nick would've recommend. The result was awesome! It even fit Bisons criteria of how a converter should respond for the combo. I'm patting myself on the back...LOL.

You kinda lost me on the suppresion inthr low to mid 20's . The last "run" was just to show the stall. I am going to check the trans pressure today and see where that is. I'm waiting until I can get Rick to port the turbo so I can turn the boost down before I make a "full" run. What's different about this Chicago spec'd PTC? - Thanks

I'm still not understanding what this statement is supposed to mean. Also how is your converter spec'd different from what Dusty would spec?

Trans pressure checked out ok and stall test was posted a few posts up. Time to order a converter.
