Wanted to buy the stage right, for cost, but i also know you get what you pay for. Anyone running these with good luck? Or is another one better?

I used a Stage Right for years with excellent luck/results.
And, I would not have a Turbo Buick trans without a brake. You do not even know it is in there unless you move the shifter to 1st gear.
We now have our own design which operates similar to a S-R brake.

I use a Rossler Transmissions Ross-Lock on the PowerGlide in the Opel and on the TH-400 in the GN. Both have worked without flaw for the past six years. :)

although rossler is a rival company i have to say he does make a good product.like us there are only a few innovators with th400 stuff and he is one of them.he doesnt make anything for the 2004r though.for a 2004r the stage right does work great for most.as for the electric brake you have 3.the pts and scott mclay versions are used by many and are similar in design.then there is the ck version which is not even remotely similar to either one in the "how it works "department.the only thing the 3 share is we hold the car stationary by putting the car in third gear and then use the low reverse clutches to lock the gear train together.others will word it that they apply reverse and first together and this means the same thing but in theory my explanation is easier to understand if you were picturing the parts orientation during the lock phase :)

I have the stage right style from Century Transmission and used it for several years. Here are my thoughts:

It works pretty good. Holds the car great. Using the shifter to launch is slower then moving finger off a button. Trying to only bump it 1 click with stock shifter when racing is tough. More times than not I would go all the way to 3rd which means the tranny does all shifts itself which equals short shifts for me. Now when I went to a rachet shifter things got better. Now I bang it forward hard and it only goes to 2nd... then bang again for my 2-3 shift. You will always have to let it shift 1-2 on it's own so you may need to add or take away weight on governer to get the 1-2 shiftpoint where you want it. Vinny had my 1-2 shift right at 5800 which was perfect.

Now I think I would prefer a button style but it is considerably more money so I will wait until I got to a 400 for that I think.
