Hello board. i own an 87 GN with 35k original miles. The only mods it has is a cold air kit and a 92 octane chip. I eventually will be adding a 3" DP, injectors, hot wire, exhaust, etc., some of the basic mods.

Long-term I may add a new turbo, like a TA49, and a new SLIC.

I am going to replace theear main seal in a couple of weeks and was considering swapping torque converters while I was there. I spoke to Performance Torque Converters and they recommended a 10" converter with a 2800 stall. I plan on keeping it a lock-up trans.

Based on the mods, and plans does anyone think the converter will be a performance boost?

Thanks

Jeff

Put a nice 2800-3000 in it if your going to do it. Dont go with the 49, but a 5857 or 5957 and just add a Duttneck to your cooler. You will be happy, but add ALKY to go over 15 lbs of boost.

Yes. For a stock motor keep the turbo smaller (58mm compressor wheel) and no looser than a 2800 stall. Anything looser will just be sloppy with the stock cam and shift points.
