hey guys,...new to the buick scene..dumb question, but what is a we4?...some turbo code that gm uses??

thanks

From Buick WE4:

The WE4 (Turbo T) package was offered in Buick's 1987 regals. On November 11, 1986 the dealerships were notified of the change. It was to be offered as a car that is similar in appearance to the Grand National, but lighter in weight. So in theory the WE4 is faster and at a lower price than the Grand National. This was "faster" back in 1987, many of the cars have been modified and with 14 years of age to the car and drivetrain it is not likely that the WE4 holds the same peformance advantage over the Grand National as it once did.

The WE4 package is a much misunderstood option. Even the dealerships are still confused, as they call my car a "T-Type." There were only 1,547 of these cars made compared to the 20,194 Grand Nationals that were made in 1987. It is not the rarest turbo regal but it is still very rare.

The WE4 was simply a Grand National, with some changes. The spoiler was not an option that was included with the package, it could only be ordered as a dealer installed option. The wheels were changed from the steel GN wheels to the aluminum 'T' wheels. The interior was now all gray. It is said that the bumper braces were aluminum instead of the GN's steel braces. Lastly, the WE4 came with 'T' badging.

The WE4 package cost $279 less than the Grand National(WE2) package. Turbo Regals hold their value more than the other G-body cars, just to compare apples to apples.

Hehehehehehe

Not a what..... a who....:D ME :D

I got two and have owned 5. They are the rarest to the GNX and all the ones I have had are really good cars. I have owned 63 of these cars since 1988 and for some dumb asssed reason , the WE4's have always been the better cars. No logic at all just experiance. Mine (Daily driver) has 250,000 miles now, i beat the balls off it and it still has never had the motor apart. Valve springs and timing chain. I love them as I like the all grey. Few other suttelties too but the guy above me said it pretty well.

My car with over 200,000 miles on the motor will still run a low 12 all day in street trim and it went 11.99 awhile back in race trim. ( Fuel and big boost, is race trim for me....;)

A WE4 is.....

(1) A poor man's GN
(2) A wannabee GN
(3) A "almost, but not quite" GN

Mind you, We still talk to WE4 owners as if they're our equals. (But of course they aren't.) :D :D :D

License plate is ..

PRMNSGN

And yes, we are a little eccentric:)

WE4 = smart mans GN.

Why pay extra for stuff that only slows ya down?:D

WE4 is a wanna be GN????????????? I think not! I would take a WE4 over a gn any day of the week. I have a Turbo T and love GN's, but in no way is the WE4 less of a turbo buick than the GN. The "T" Buicks are the real Turbo Buicks anyway. By the way, the 87' Turbo Buick's (Not GN's though) went up in value 7% a couple yeas ago according to the blue book. Don't ask me why but that sounds good to me. I heard this straight from Dennis Kirban. Also I beleive te WE4's also got alluminum brake drums, and they did have alluminum bumper braces. The real rare car is a Black 87 Turbo T, because they stopped making black T packages after the intro of the WE4. I would guess from what I have heard that they made less than 500. I had the opportunity to buy one, but didn't cause it was beat. Hope I helped, and I thought GN's and T-types got along????

HOW DAREST THOU!

Wash your mouth out with soap. ;)

BTW - not all WE4's came with all the aluminum goodies. My 20k mile car had iron drums, but did have aluminum bumper supports. I added the alum drums.

Astro roof WE4's are fairly rare.

Soooo.........

You take a regular Regal and make it a WE4 or a GN. You take a GN and make it a GNX.

Which equals:

What is a GN

(1) A poor man's GNX
(2) A wannabee GNX
(3) A "almost, but not quite" GNX

Mind you, We still talk to GN owners as if they're our equals.

DISCLAIMER: I don't really own a GNX, I wish I owned a GNX, when I win the lottery I will buy a GNX. I'm just being a smarta$$.

Definately not your equals....we're FAR better, faster, and more rare than a GN! I'm sensing a little envy from the GN guys!! HeeHee;) Maybe it's because we're 1 of 1547, not 1 of 20,194!! ALL TR's ROCK!! (WE4's just do it better!)

LOL

Mine is one of those rare black turbo t WE4's.. I will never sell this car.

In fact, upon death they are going to need to dig a BIG hole , 23X8.5X10 to bury me in the car. :D

I have best of both worlds:D .

I bought my car thinking it was a GN. It had GN badging, wheels, and emblems. I did not know what the hell a WE4 was, one day i checked the RPO code out in the trunk looking for WE2 and to my dismay i saw we4. I was like wtf, and my heart sunk until i found out what goodies the we4 had to offer.

So i can hang with the GN owners or the we4s. Think of me as a mut.;)

I have a black one with an Astro-Roof. People who kind of know ask me if its a real one. (A GN) But most just think its a Monte Carlo.
