Whats it worth?

Going to look at a GN tonight. 44,000 miles hardtop. Interior decent, exterior needs complete repaint. No rust or crash damage. Engine completely stock, supposedly runs well. What would you offer ?

Assuming it is in sound mechanical shape and is a real 44k original miles I would probably be in the $7k-$8k range. Seems odd that the car needs to be restored inside and outside. Make sure you run a carfax and check for the trunk id label. Be sure to verify the 8th digit of the vin is a '7'. Saw someone get taken last year thinking they bought a 1986 t-type, turns out they bought a regular 86 regal. Check out gnttype.org for the list of things to look for when looking a car over. Depending on options I would have to agree that 8000 would be max. Figure upwards of 2000 for a quality paint job and maybe 1500-2000 for the interior (depends on what it needs) if you can get some pics it would help-also second the carfax idea.
