Not sure if this is the right pace to post up, but figured it was. Mods please move if required.
At a point where I'm not sure what would benefit my car more. 3" down pipe, 2.5-3"exhaust, and or a alky inj system. Or something else??? Sig pretty much shows what I have, otherwise stock. My goals are to slowly work my way down into high 11's on a good night. All three will be purchased eventually. Just what is going to benefit me more right now. I've read where a stock DP will take cars into high 11's( obviously with more effort than with aftermarket) so should I spring for the alky or the cat back exhaust?Car runs great with the set up @ 15lbs. Let me know what you guys think. Just trying to get the most out of the next mod.
Thanks Phill

After the above assuming you have done the basic stuff and have a decent logger with wideband Id get an exhaust cutout to replace the catalyst. I would do a turbo before I wasted $$$ on a dp. Way more to be gained with the exhaust cutout open and high boost with a larger turbo

I do have a cutout waiting to be installed was going to wait till I got an exhaust or DP. But maybe slap that on beforehand. The turbo I have is practically brand new. No proof it's new but the thing is clean with no rust or any signs or use. Still yet to determine if it's stock or not. No logger of any sort. But thanks, gives me some direction.

Quick question. Should I expect any issues with deleting the cat? As far as tune wise? Or SM throwing any codes? Might attempt to throw that on this weekend.

If it's the stock turbo, you should see garrett molded into the turbo with a logo near the word ( it'll be visible even with the heat shield on the turbo ).

Alky, all day long. EVERYTHING else is worthless if you can't even turn up the boost. 15 psi on anything other than a PT88 turbo or above is boring, and will not win any races any how. You need something to turn up the boost with, and that's alky. Alky also cools so it really helps in more ways than one. You're going to need a 160 thermostat too. And if your garage is insulated, run straight distilled water w/ RMI25 in it.
Also, ditch the cat, throw in a test pipe (really cheap and easy) and port your turbo elbow. Super easy and helps a little. With those mods and a cooler running car w/ alky spraying, you should be good for an easy 27 psi or so. That will necessitate slicks at that point. :) You'll need breathers on the valve covers too. At this point you may not want to change anything else. Keep it as stock as possible. It's funner that way. You'll spend less time under the car, and more time IN it. Which is the whole goal. Unlike me. And now my wife is madder than **** lol.

I don't wanna be anywhere near 27 psi. Haha I'll be fine eith 20. For now. I do have the 160 t stat and billet housing. Along with the breather kit and block off for passenger side.
Bison, will I have increased boost without even touching the Wastegate ? I presume I should do some 3rd gear pulls to see if she does increase and turns lean.

"block off for passenger side"? What's that? And increased boost without touching the wastegate over what? If you mean yanking your cat, then yes. You may see a pound or so more. Though I've always understood boost to be a measure of restriction, and that removing any restrictions lowers boost not raises it.

Here's what you do to test boost. Yank your wastegate rod off and loosen it till there's just a tad of resistance putting it back on to the wastegate. After that, throw some race gas or toluene/xylene in the tank to get yourself about 100 octane or so for insurance, and take the car out. Slowly roll into it to see what's going on. This will determine what that wastegate rod setting actually means in terms of PSI, and how things work for the rest of the car. Assuming everything's ok, you should be ok with about 17 psi on pump gas. Once you get a solid feeling of confidence, adjust it to 15 psi (if you can) and put 93 octane in it. This is of course after any flow mods that could potentially up the boost. After that, add a pound of boost and take it out again, to see if you're knocking. Keep adding boost till you see knock, then back it off a little.

I would go for the alky kit from Julio, personally. Best bang for the buck IMO.

The oil breather tube that connected to the turbo from stock form on passenger side. And yes a creep in boost with deleting the cat and putting in the cutout. I'm assuming a aftermarket boost gauge isn't sufficient enough to determine boost levels?

Yes. Add fuel before finding out how much boost

Sounds good not sure when I'll ever grt around to hacking the cat off and installing the cutout. I still have my bumper fillers sitting in a. Box. I just enjoy driving it too much to have it down for a day or two. I'll be ordering alky this month. Gotta check the funds.

No, there are aftermarket boost gauges that are pretty good. You certainly can't rely on your factory gauge I can tell you that much. Stick to a good name and there shouldn't be any problems. Like VDO and such. If you don't want it down, have a local shop do the test pipe for you. It should take them 30 minutes with their tools and hoist. Shouldn't be much either.

Wait. I don't see a powerplate in your sig. Do you have one?

I have a vac/boost gauge from Vdo. No I don't have a power plate YET. I'm not racing this car at all right now. And don't plan on pushing it till after this winter when I install some more necessary parts. If she see's any wot it's from a 3rd gear roll and not for very long. I'm babying this 124k stock trans which I know will be the weak point here very soon. . Plans are to install power plate ,valve springs, and install a new timing chain , possible cover as well over the winter along with alky. My old man has a lift at his work. Plans are to take the buick down and do my brakes and I'll end up putting that dump on.
