Regal t-type is the model. Grand National is a package. There is no info in the VIN that designates GN, only t-type. In 87 it was a T option on the regals, though not all were turbos. No regal was called a t-type in 87.

In 1986, the "GN" was an option package on the Turbo T-Type ( about $600 ). In 1987, the "GN" was its own model ( not an option ). All turbo regals shared the same drive trains. The "GN" option was cosmetic. HTH, Brian

Wrong. An 87 regal with a 307 olds engine is not a t-type. A "T" package was available on any regal in 87 that included the 307 and 200 4-R trans as well as other suspension components that are common to the turbo "T". But none were designated t-types. Maybe somepone put a V-8 in an 82-86 t-type but it did not come from GM that way.

I saw it at Carslile PA at a GM show. I was showing my 85 Riviera T-Type. The original owner was so sure it was worth something. I had a long talk with him about why the heck would he order a T-type with the v8? I'd bet my ball-sac that is was a factory option. I have seen one!

Wrong- I Owned an '87 T-Type(grey w/black out package) that came factory w/a 5.0 V8. I really only bought it for the alloy T-Type wheels and WO2 grille that I wanted for my '85 GN. No Turbo Regal was called a T-Type in '87.

Your both wrong. "T" is not a t-type. "T" was used in 87 on regals. There were none designated as T-Types in 87, as i stated above. You even stated yours was a "T" in your post. However you are correct about gran touring. Any regal with the "T" had basically the same suspension except for maybe front springs if it had a 307 or 3.8 i would assume different springs. An 87 "T" with a 307 is not in high demand and not worth as much as a turbo "T" even though they made less of them.

I would like to see proof of this 87 T-Type if it was not a "T". The only way you could prove it would be with invoices or build sheet saying t-type and not "T". Chances are someone slapped on earlier 82-86 T-Type fender emblems on it. Still its an 87 "T" with a 307 and a 200 4-R and the 7 5/8 ring gear 10 bolt.

You shouldnt bet your ball sac either. I almost lost mine in a bet like that before. Not worth it imo.

Not that it will ever matter in this lifetime what you believe, but: This car had the exact same emblems/black-out trim/fast ratio streering/heavier front & added rear sway bars/bucket seats/froor shifter, T-Type horn button as the other four T-Type(Riveria/LeSabre/etc) Buick T-Type models offered in their T-Type packages that year. Funny they all have '82 to '86 "T" emblems "slapped on them" as well. Seems there were about 2000 T-Type Regals made with the 307 Olds engine/3.08 rear, and- I agree: who'd want one(except for the parts or as a guinea-pig for a new dash )?

If you could find a nice clean low mile one for cheap with the "T" package it would be easy to transplant the drivetrain into for a nice cheap alternative to the high priced nice low mileage cars that have the LC2.

Yeah- They called the LC2 equipped ones the Turbo-T, and I suppose the V8 versions were a T-Nothing(while all the other models were still T-Types. The hassle would be the fuel lines, and pump/ECM and harness/front springs. Maybe keep the turbo-humpless hood for sleeper effect? I thought about transplanting the solid roof(and all the exactly-the-same-as-a-GN interior roof trim) onto my t-top '85. Don't have enough room in my garage for that kinda project though. My '85 had a super solid, no rust chassis/ the '87 V8 one was a cancer victim.
