What's up with Google?

OK all you computer experts. Why do I get Chinese every time I try to use Google? Very frustrating!

my browser- Firefox- won't let me click on any of the sponsored links that come up at the top of a google search... it used to work, and i haven't changed any settings.. it won't even let me open them in a new tab or browser window, just opens up a blank page.. every other search result works...
is there some sort of a spat between the Firefox people and the Google people?

Google's toolbar hasn't worked with Firefox since version 10.0x or so. I had withdrawals until I found this cool workaround. This is now "obsolete" being superseded by "Google Redesigned" which I have not tried.
