Ok I Just Put A Good ECM Out Of A 87 Gn And It Worked Fine Went Got Gas And Went Home And When I Went To Go In to Town It Just Like Someone Shut The Car Off Real Fast And Back On Did That Like Two Times And Now The Scan Master Is Dead, Car Still Runs Good, But When I Turn The Key On The SM Shows 2.1 And Blank,, So I'm Sure The SM Works,, It Did This Before And Would Not Start Back Up ,The ECM Wire That Gos On The Pos Battery Cable Was Bad So I Think I Fix That,
Sorry For The Long Post But I Hope Someone Can Help Me Out,,
Thanks For Any And All The Info,,

Seneca Lafler,

Check your connectors at the ECM to be sure that none of the wires have backed out of them and make sure it's plugged in securely. Also check for corrosion at this connection point from water leaking inside. Have you soldered the bad connection that you repaired? If not you should..

oh yeah... please don't type capitalizing every word, it's improper and makes it hard to read.

I had the same problem the other week!!! I couldn't get any reading on my scanmaster & TLINK. Here is my thread.... http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=59606&referrerid=1629

I ended up changing the ECM & that fixed the problem.

I wouldn't say all ECM are good!!!! People could be selling good computer because their car runs fine but they may not have a scanmaster to indicate that there is no signal being sent to the SM from the ECM. The first computer I plugged in didn't show any readings either. Lucky for me I just bought a parts car & pulled the ECM out.... or else I still be looking for the problem now!!!

good luck... dave

I have the same problem with the ECM. I was getting no information sent to the Scanmaster and my TCC was being told to be on all the time. When the car would shift into 2nd gear the TCC would come on and stay on. I put in a switch to shut it off and put it on when I wanted it.:D The fan would also not work properly. Most chips have the fan come on below 30 mph but my fan would only come on when the temp was over 180*
I put in another ECM and the Scanmaster, fan and TCC all work properly.
