When is a new intercooler needed?

Ok first of all I am a very young 19 years of age and have like limited funds because I am just starting out I made a complete list of upgrades I want to do with my GN in the coming months and I plan on getting a TA-49 turbo with 42.5 009 fuel injectors and I threw in there a V4 21 row intercooler from CAS. That intercooler alone is $700!!! I was just wondering...is this intercooler REALLY necessary for me to go faster with this TA-49 or can I run the stock intercooler with no problems. Eventually I am gonna break 11's with this turbo and if I say wanted to go 11.5, would I need the upgraded intercooler to acheive this or can a stocker hold up?

my buddy's 87 GN run 11:70's with a 49 turo 009 injectors and stock i/c .. it has been 11:50's a couple times with same setup but 51 turbo that crapped out.

for real? wow guess i don't really have to upgrade it then yet...thank god because after buying the turbo and injectors i will be a very poor man!!!

Give John Pearcy a call...he can give you advice on what to buy and the best bang for the buck. I have a PT 51 and combo he sold me...and WOW...this thing rocks! For the money just buy the MSD 50s, THDP, PT-51...and go from there. You can go fats on the stock IC, put a DW neck or Mease Neck on it, and make sure your scoop and shroud direct air correctly... www.johnsperformance.com go and call him, its well worth it!

I've gone 11.53@118 with a stock intercooler with a big neck running out of injector with a TA49. If I ever get my car back together, it should do the same (or quicker) with a regular neck, stock intercooler. The advantage to a V4 is on the street, where you can't cool the stock intercooler down between WOT runs.

if ur gonna buy new injectors get 50s. Racetronics has quite a nice sale in the advertiser specials area. Im stuck in the same boat you are. I have all my parts but i ran outta money when it came intercooler time. Oh well....paychecks add up eventually. I was told by many its not necessary but if your going to drive it on the street its certainly going to help a whole bunch.

i saw the sale going on at racetronix...47 bucks per delphi 50 lb injector! these are the same as the MSDs right? why are these a pintle design rather the others are disc? i thought disc was the best design??? i will buy these injectors now if i get some feedback...i hear there are some very good chips for the 50's too...can i run these with a stock turbo for now until i upgrade it???
