I would like to run the DC Tech battery cover, but the battery I have has top posts and is a little larger than the orig. delco that came in the car so the cover won't fit.

Do any of the major chains sell AC Delco batteries? I haven't had any luck so far....

Rich, I would not reccomend the new AC batteries. They have a very poor consumer rating. I used to run nothing but the AC's until I bought the last one I had. The case started leaking acid in less than 1 year. I did some research and found out that the batteries were being manufactured by another subpar company and AC was putting there name on them. Turns out the case leaking was a major pro9blem withe them.

I have an AC/Delco 7 year Professional battery in my car for a few years now with no problems .. The last delco 5 year lasted a good 5 years too with no problems.. I love em..

i worked at orielly auto parts for 3 years and yes the delcos suck now, i used to run nothing but delco, but now they are no better than any other if not worse. There reman alternators and starters also are no better than ultima or any other brand because they are the same thing. Most of the delcos have dropped from lifetime warrenty to 1year. All reman delco stuff is pretty much made in mexico along with the rest of it. Most batteries don't last past two years anyways but the delcos have been awful. I'm not sure how different they are, but oreilly s now carries Delphi batteries and they seem better made and seem to last longer.

The original size battery was a 75 series. Just about all your major brands carry a side post only in this size(Interstate, Excide,Delco). BTW Delphi is the new name for Delco. I too have been a Delco man since day one and I have never had a problem with them. My usuall routine with batteries is every year I buy a new Delco for the GN and pass the year old one down to one of my other cars. I have Delcos that have been running for over 7 years. Yes they did change where they are made and the new ones are more fragile than the older ones but you should be okay with a Delco if you just use a little care installing it and what ever you do dont torque down the terminal bolts untill they dont go anymore, this is where everybody has a problem. If you dont get a good connection there look into replacing the cable or bolt and make sure there is no corrision on the terminal ends.

Just a note, I also had good luck with all the Delco batteries I had bought until the last one. Purchased about 16 months ago.

Thanks for the info - I wasn't aware that the orig side post only size was made by other manufacturers, so maybe I'll just check around and see what I can find. I'm less concerned with the brand than I am with the size as I need that size to run the DC Tech shield.

:D
