How much hp/tq is the stock transmission capable of handling w a shift kit and super servo? As I modify, a built tranny will be on the list......
This is the wrong approach
The tranny should be the 1st thing that comes out.
If it slips and fails and you have no safeties in place the motor will over rev.
Keep it at 17psi till your ready.
A stock turbo at 25+psi will lay waste to a stock 200.
I've seen them 500+left of torque at a very low rpm.

stock valve body is very had to improve on, Transmission builders that build for GNs don't use over the counter kits.

I run a turbonetics single bb te44 on a basically "step above" stock combo but with champ irons.. it surprised the shit out of me when I stabbed it at 75 mph, violent instant acceleration.

Is the bb te44 now considered the "best" one step up from stock now?

I was just considering the 49 because of stock appearing and using my stock heat shield.

No it's not
Turbos are chosen for the power level and response time someone is looking for.
A 49 will do 550hp and yes on a stock motor.
I went 10.6@125 on one decades ago.
There are just much better options now.
Small injectors and small cast turbos was all we had.

There are many new turbo's out now that will work in the "stock combo" application , the old te44 wouldn't compare to a said pte gen3 5658 or an Hpt 5862 but your gonna spend, to utilize a 500hp combo you also need octane/fuel system/trans/ possibly a better converter then the 12" D5
