Is there anywhere I can buy a new stock camshaft? I heard GM no longer sells them, I want to go back to stock on my 87, after I wiped the rp313B( I just got it into the machine shop yesterday so I'm not sure on the cause) My goal is to run low 12s on pump gas and mid 11s on race gas, with everything in my sig and ported and polished stock heads which i am gonna have done, and I'm sure the stock cam can produce those numbers. Thanks a lot .

I don't think you can get a stock cam from GM anymore...... it's funny you wiped the 313b atr cam cause I know one guy (Alex aka as blackshoebox on this board) who has the 313b atr cam and his car has over 25k miles on a rebuild (this car is a daily driver) and is raced pretty much on a daily basis with no problems so far and also Brad (BLACK6PACK) has the same cam and hasn't had any problems yet.... you might have one of those blocks that likes to wipe flat tappet cams so a billet roller might be the only answer to solve the problem.
HTH:)

No I think the block is ok, I had the alignment checked last time(13,000 miles ago it had a rebuild). I'm not gonna blame the cam until I know for sure, what caused it. I want a stock cam just because I miss the lowend torque and want to have more reliability. Thanks.

If you pay for the shipping, I have my stock cam I'll give you. It's wrapped up in some rags on a shelf in the garage collecting dust.....
Shipping is from Hawaii, so it's a little more than the mainland.

I think I may have one too. With the lifters.
Be careful with lifters tho. There is a big problem right now in the marketplace for availability of hydrulic lifters. Ck it out. I still have the same lifters and the same bores with this cam. Might be a thought. I would look into obtaining lifters first. If that is a go Derricks cam might be the way. If lifters cannot be obtained, then this cam might be the way. Do some research and let us know what you find. The last i checked the only way you could purchase lifters was in a cam "kit" . So ck ok?

Hey "Big D"? Can the olympic swimmer carry the cam in their teeth? You think? :D LOL

Oh Yea..... " Hey, where is my Hula Girl? " !!!!
I am still waiting......:)

JD,

I've used the replacement cam that Sealed Power sells for the GN. The specs are the same as stock and as far as I know they are still available. Personally I would NOT use a used cam with new lifters. There is a possibility that even if the cam is in good condition there may not be much taper left in the lobes. If the taper is almost gone the lifter won't spin and you'll wipe a lobe for sure.

Something to think about.

Neal

P.S. If you need a P/N for the Sealed Power cam let me know.

yeap back to sealed power/ speed pro ...same people that made gm's cam to start with...:D

cs1000r is stock spec cam if you really want to go back to a cam with power range of 1000-3500 rpm

first step above the stock one is the one in my hotair motor cs1112r made more power and got better gas mileage than the stock one or go ahead with the cs1016r and be done with it the 204/214 is awsome down low and up top... but your choice

and forget buying sealed power lifters in gm boxes for 5 times the money ...buy some ht969 sealed power lifters for $2 a piece and save all the extra money the box cost because it says gm.

I've read a lot of different names on who made the lifters. This is what is says on the box.

On the top:
Valve lifters

On the sides:
48 TYPE 1064
VALVE LIFTERS 5234485
HL 85 A GR 0.459

On the ends:
Manufactured by AC ROCHESTER
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. 49501-2167

This is from a NOS dealer bulk pack of lifters. So I would believe the only OEM is from GM.
