I remember reading that its supposed to go in the up pipe, is that right? If so, whats the best way to go about threading and installing it? Thanks

Iat??

You are correct. I have mine in a bung I welded to the up pipe just in ft of the throttle body connector hose.

If you want accuracy then you want to mount it as close as possible to the intake valve. On a hot soak like sitting in the staging lanes or going thru a drive in window, the manifold can contibute ALOT to MAT temps..
Actually the best sensing would be inside the chamber, just prior to ignition. Then use that info for the next fuel and timing calc..
