Only problem I have experienced using a high timing chip is transitional knock. That is while tooting around town, going uphill,or loading the motor where no boost is involved and the timing is there..a couple of degrees will show. Also high timing chips will flare the knock guage big time if you jab the throttle.
No problems when racing the car.....just when driving around have I personally experienced this problem with various chips.
My current chip is a 26 degree chip that has a fast recovery rate for knock so it corrects itself quickly. This has been my compromise and is working well.Chip made with programmer by BM computer in Springhill Fl.
For an alky setup on a stock car ,my favorite chip before this one was the thrasher 100 chip.
