Im looking into getting an exhaust as mine is kind of done for. I have seen a few different ones around, but dont know much about them. What do you guys use?

Also, as to the up and down pipes. I know atr makes them, but what do you guys think about jaysgn up pipe? looks good, but expensive. will it give any more gains. Also, when i get a cat back exhaust, will it fit right up to atr's down pipe? oh yeah, do you guys run an aftermarket crossover pipe?

And what is a test pipe?

i have an ATR 2.5" downpipe and ATR 3" crossflow cat back. A test pipe is just a straight piece of pipe that will go where your cat converter used to go. My ATR downpipe came with a test pipe and i had to take it to a muffler shop to mate the downpipe and the cat back together.I also have the ATR uppipe and it doesnt fit that great, but it works fine. Id bet that the jaysgn uppipe is better fitting, but it is twice the price of the ATR, and will probably be no better in performance.
hope that helps

I use Poston headers and Hooker Hi flow exhaust. Stock up, down and crossover pipes. Brad

anyone got picks of aftermarket up and downpipes?im looking for something that has that replaces the elbow too

Is mease a better exhaust, or cheaper or something? My car has an exhaust that a pipes empties out behind each rear wheel. Is this stock for an 84?

On my 85, I run a homemade 3" downpipe, stock crossover, 3" test pipe and a Torque Tech dual 3" Y pipe with turbo mufflers...no tailpipes. Kinda heavy though.

ATR 2 1/2" up pipe, DP x-over and SS headers.

Hooker 2 1/2" cat-back with areo chamer mufflers. Looks and sounds great. The DP is long at the end and comes w a flange u weld in place to match up the cat-back. Got that from a local speedshop that deals w Hooker.

Stock duals out each side for 85 - yup thats what they have.

So, tell me if all of this together will work. The crossover pipe from jays i think, the up-pipe from jays, down pipe from atr, and then one of atr's exhaust system. WIll alll this work together? ALso, what headers will work with all that?

I picked up the Hooker Cat-Back System, I like it, everything bolts up in the stock position, only modification that had to be done was cut and weld the old 4-bolt flange from the old test onto the new test pipe and for the price, can't complain :D

Exhaust

Mease 3in ceramic DP, poston headers, ATR crossover, ATR up pipe, 3in single shot exhaust w pitpull ATR muffler.

im runnin a postons dual setup with hooker aero chamber mufflers, atr up pipe, mease down pipe, and 3"test pipe. dont know how it sound with the atr up pipe and the mease down pipe yet.but the aero chambers sound real good

We just put the turbo back on the car today, and ive got a couple questions about the exhaust. I bought a new exhuast donut for it, and then theres the triangle thing with the metal donut on it already. It seems like there is soppost to be something else there with the triangle one, because we are getting a lot of exhuast out of it. Also, the down pipe i think it is with the exhaust donut is getting some leaking as well. Seems like the lip on the exhaust is just a little beat up.

But, first is there suppost to be something else to go along with the triangle donut thing? And where can i get it?

Would you guys just spring for a new up pipe?

I must have taken that exhaust off and on ten times.

The copper triangle goes one way only. I use Permatex Ultra Copper on that as well. Let it cure for 24 hrs despite your urge to run the car.

The up-pipe connection at the header end - no gasket (I have ATR headers and up-pipe) and a ring of ultra copper here again does the trick.

Far as the doughnut goes - cinch up those DP bolts w springs good n tight. Shouldnt leak at all - unless your DP lip is beat up as you stated. Id spring for a whole new setup - headers, X-over, DP and up-pipe and be done with it. Plus it really wakes up the car's flow as well.
