Ok so with the help of everyone on this site, we have established that i need a full floating piston to accept the K1 rods im getting. Which piston combo would you guys suggest?

JE- http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/prod...684&CtgID=11434
The pic doesnt show rings or wrist pins or clips. Does it come with thoes or no?

Diamond- http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/it...402~eq~~Tp~.htm
Same with these. Only shows the pistons and the rings are listed above for 469!!

Wiseco- http://www.4wre.com/proddetail.asp?prod=WIS-PT040H3
I like the looks of this. Comes with everything. Dont know the quality of the rings though.

Any insight on which on outperforms the other and so on, please let me know. thanks alot.

Don't Know

which one is that?
But if I were buying pistons I would find out. PS: Ross pistons are lighter than JE pistons which I have used in the past, but both are high quality products.

When you buy pistons just make sure that the pin diameter will be the same as the rods you're using. I believe the K1 rods accept a .940" wristpin (Buick). A lot of aftermarket pistons use .927" pins (SBC). Just be clear when you are ordering to avoid a possible screw up. If you get the pistons and rods from Full Throttle you should be OK.

there was a post, around jan. I believe, about this same issue. One of the guys that spent a lot of time building engines, commented on the different piston manf.'s quality. it was very informative. unfortunately I didn't need(actually, can't afford a set of pistons) at the time so I didn't submit it to memory. but I believe he said the best repeatability was from JE. the others were around 80%. The info is either on this board or the turbobuicks board.

The JE's are considered by many to be a very high quality piston. We used a set in our T-Type a few years ago and found them to be a bit noisy. Some research (after the fact, of course) revealed that some noise is typical when using JE's.

Here's an excellent thread on this same topic:

Ive herd the same thing about Wiseco. I think im going to go with JE. What rings should i get now? Matching JE or is there a better more prefered ring?

The Wisecos are really hard to beat for the money. They come with JE wrist pins (as an FYI) and a nice ring set. I have them in my father's car and they work great although a tad noisey when cold. Noise goes away once its warmed up. IIRC, I paid $450 for the set at the time. $390 is a steal especially since the quality is atleast as good as the JE's for about $200 less.

For 390 you get the stock bore size. For the 030 overs, i have found em for about 450. Mine is bored .030 over. So, still go with the Wiseco's or the JE? Money is not really an option here. Also on the wiseco's on Webers site, They have additional options for the rings, File fit Plasma moly and Total Seal Gapless Top? WTF is that?

The 5.960" (stock length) K1 rods are bushed and sized for the stock .940" wrist pin while the 6.000" K1 rods are bushed and sized for a .927" wrist pin.

I think Diamond is the best piston but Wiseco is good too. I would take either one over a JE, IMO

Does any one else agree with this?
