OK, there are three relays on the drivers side of the engine compartment, 2 standard size relays with one connector going to each, and 1 large one with two connectors going to it. What is the large relay controlling?

That is your fan delay relay. It's there to activate the fan for a period of time after shutdown to cool things down. It's tripped by a coolant temp sensor on the intake.

Thanks for the quick reply. I knew one of those three was the fan relay, but I wasn't sure which. The big one was wrapped in tape and when I unwrapped it I found the side of the housing was blown out and everything was rusted out inside. Guess I know now why the fan wasn't coming on. :p

The two small relays on the same side are the high and low speed fan relays and control about 90% of the fan operation.

The big delay relay runs the fan after the car is shut off and still hot to reduce heat soak. Not needed most of the time in MHO.

Check for non-operating fan from the chip would be the low speed relay.

Activate the A/C and the high speed relay should kick the fan up a notch.

Good luck.

Also, be sure you have power going into these relays. The fan power supply comes from fusible links at the starter solenoid.

I'm going to double check for power, did'nt know they all were fan relays. Thanks!
