Been a while for me guys so bare with me. Buying my old car back :D

I still have my OTC, but on my last car (5 years ago) I was using Direct Scan on an old laptop. All that stuff went with the car when I sold it.

Is Direct Scan still "the" thing to use, or is something else better or what now?

TIA

Whats the differences between all the tools how do they work ? and which one would be best..scanmaster vs powerlogger vs direct scan...

Powerlogger for me as soon as I can. WS6 ( Rich ) lives by me and he is learning how to fine tune his TTA with it as we speak. He is a wiz with this fuel injection s*&t and can tune pretty good. I use scanmaster now, but by summers end, I will be "Loggin". Do the wideband and logger now.

Just my opinion,
Coach

Thanks for the replies, What is this Powerlogger you speak of, where can I find info on it?

I've never used a wide band o2, EGT's were just getting really popular when I quit doing this.

Thanks a lot.

Mike at Full throttle can answer any questions about the logger and wide-band. Eric at Turbo tweak is the man for chips. 6.0 chip for powerlogger. Send a PM to WS6. He is quickly becoming an expert on this stuff ( new technology). His name is Rich. He can explain it so even a dummy like me can make sence out of it.

Thanks

Think of the Powerlogger as Direct Scan on steriods!! It plugs into the ECM the same way, except that the whole board plugs right onto the ECM's data connector. It has a USB port so is compatible with most modern laptops running windows XP or newer, logs more data points, and has an additional cable running to an external analog data block that can accept inputs from various other external sensors, like WBO2 sensors, MAP sensors, EGT sensor, and there's even an update chip available for the Scanmaster so that it can be hooked to the powerlogger and display several values such as actual A/F ratio (from wideband O2), boost (from map sensor), map (from map sensor), EGT (from optional EGT amp).
Displays similar to DS, but the graph displays are configurable.

etc.
etc.
etc.

As for chips, that's a personal preference and has nothing to do with your scan tool of choice.
While TT chips are a very good choice, don't forget the Extender and Commander chips from Full Throttle, still lots of us using them!

And wait till you get a load of the new Translators available!!

Thanks a lot. I don't have the $'s to throw at this car like I used to. SO, I want to make every purchase a calculated one.

Can the Power Logger be used without the wide band or is it necessary?

Thanks again
