I'm looking to run 11s on straight pump gas. I was able to do it with my 99 GT, but I realize this a V6 and the heads don't flow nearly as well. Currently I have a THDP, RJC powerplate, Kirban ValveSprings, Extender chip, LT1 MAF with translator, Heated 02, Lucas 37 lb inj. and a few other mods not power related.

I plan to buy an extra set of heads and bring them to Jack Merkel's for the full works. After I get the heads breathing & good FMIC, what would be a good street turbo that doesn't take a 3200 stall converter to spool to run on the street on 93 octane? The extender chip is set up for 19/17 degrees of timing so KR shouldn't be a concern. I would also upgrade the injectors to 60 lb. Thanks.

really, what kind of shape is it in? Housing? shoot me a PM with a price so we can keep things moving. I was actually thinking about a TE-44, but don't I need a different wastegate actuator or can I use the one from my stock turbo?

I'd be suprised to see a 93 no alky full weight TR go 11's on a 44.

Maybe with some weight reduction and a killer 60ft.

Gotta have cam, heads, great traction(converter+slicks)... low boost sure.

I just ran 11.83 at 16 PSI last week. Tho my 3600 stall and TE67 dont qualify as small :D

What was the trap speed?
The heads should be here in the near future and then I'm dropping them off at Merkel's for the full works so I can get the most flow out of them. I might go with one of the GT series turbos for efficiency. I hope to make good power with low boost and not need 3500 stall on the street. These are not high revving engines so the most I will go is 3200 since this won't see the track. I spent 4 years at the tracks on the east coast and spent too much money/time fixing parts. This will be a weekend 100% street car.
Forget 11s, I would like to trap atleast 115+ mph.

Last friday I went 11.56@121 with a crappy 1.85 60ft on DR's and an exh leak.

Had 2 gals of 110 mixed in with 10 gals 93 so it wasn't straight 93.

Heads,cam,BB-T70 and big FM. 22 deg timing. Ned to drop it to 17-18 for straight 93 I think.

91 in the 1/8

113 in the 1/4

115 on straight 93 .. its going to take some work.

gn under 10

Read the Car Craft issue (or it may be Hot Rod) that has the 70 fastest street cars. A 1987 GN is in there running 9.9 secs. with a turbo change. It is worth finding that article. Kenne Bell used to have a the info on running fast. They had catalogs full of mods to make all turbo v-6 cars run faster.

Welcome to the board, now throw that KB catalog away :D I spent a lot of $$ there before I knew this board existed, and there's nothing left on my car now from them except the SS exhaust/headers, and switch plate, and plug wires....they do have some good parts, but alot of their stuff is snake oil.

I just finally finished putting my car back together after the valve drop fiasco & 2 weeks of time. I think the problem was I took on too many projects at one time. I just replaced the valvesprings, keepers, injector harness, injectors, head gasket(dropped valve-oops), Installed ARP bolts, replaced valve cover gaskets, installed RJC power plate, THDP & added MSD ignition wires. All that is left is to add the coolant, leak check & major clean up. I did learn alot about the GN as a result of this work though. I installed the extender chip and now just playing wit hthe wire.

As far as adding a turbo, I will leave that for the winter months. I would like to try the GT-35R, but it's pricey.

well a 44 with the heads and cam will be able to, i went 11.92 and 11.91, to back it up both at 113.5 at 17 psi and 93. 1.86-90 60 ft and great dry 60 degree weather. But i would go bigger and would recomend 3200 stall , a 3200 and a pt or gt61 turbo would make a nasty street car setup in my opinion that is still very driveable as long as its still a lock up convertor. if I could do it over i would go with something a bit bigger.
