The only reason I said to buy something pratical and cheap was because you said "you was buying a house in a few years!" I simply thought it best to not have a ton of negitive debt when you sat down with a banker trying to barrow funds for a house. Either way, I still would buy something pratical since you already have a T-type. If you want to make it interresting, pick up a Diesel...those things can move. A friend of mine has one that does 13.2's in the quater almost stock and pulls more than my Regal with 23psi of Boost:eek: A truck will make you independent...I don't have to ask anyone to barrow their truck because I bought a new 50" TV. I simply pull the 50lb bed cover off and head to the store.

I agree with SVORay. Buy something practical. A car is the worst investment you will every make. The cobra may not drop as much, but what were they new? $35-40k? Now they're selling for $25k. That's $5000 a year you're losing plus interest you're losing. I make good money, have a GN, 2 houses and have pleanty of spending money to play with. I'm able to do this cuz I don't blow $500+ a month on car payments. I drive an Eagle Talon TSI as my daily commuter. Its been paid off for 4 years, and I bought it with 20k miles on it for $9500. Another thing to look at is insurance. When my brother bought his 97 SS z28 for $22k he put down about $12k and had $300 a month payments, on top of that his insurance was $325 a month!!

Put $4K into the TR and $1K into tools and parts for it.

Then add the $15K over time to the house fund.

Assuming the TR is registered and insured.

Drive the company car back and forth to work.

It shouldn't be difficult to make a T a daily driver as well as the most intelligent least expensive choice. :D

Let's see hear, you are 23 with no wife and kids and looking for something practical and fun. Am I getting this right so far? Is there a question here? How fun is a truck:confused:

99 - 04 Lightning = FUN Truck! ;)

IF you can find an '03 Cobra for < 20K then it's probably been beat on pretty hard, going rate still seems to be in the $25K range. IMHO the GTO would be the way to go, very nicely appointed & lots of go-fast potential... but not gonna find many 05's going for under $20K unless again, it's been abused / not taken care of.

found a 2004 Sierra Denali extended cab, black with tan leather, 26K miles, sunroof, 20" GM Accessory wheels, for $21,900....but that Quadsteer system scares me. A rear steering rack is $2300!!!!!!!!!! Kinda leaning toward a F250 Powerstroke Ext. cab, but its hard to leave the GM stable, I had a 94 Cobra and that thing was junk from day one.

Thats not a bad deal on the Denoli and their a sharp looking truck but that would suck if that rack goes south on ya:redface: I would look into it and see how many issues people have had with it. As for the power stroke, I wouldn't mind leaving GM for something like that, atleast It's not a Titan ;) Sorry I'm stricktly demestic

Would you consider a Mercury Marauder? They are pretty sweet cars and respond well to bolt ons I hear.

What about a 05' Dodge Ram Hemi ? You can find them used in the 20K range. And they are fun as he!!. If I could justify the payment, I would buy another. My husband has one, we've lowered it, put a 2/4 drop kit with airbags and can haul most of what we want, tow what we want, and when I want to whoop some a$$ I can :D

Sarah~

Drove a Marauder once, pretty darn snappy, but I'm not a big car kinda guy.

As for the Ram...there isn't a place for a Mopar in my driveway unless it was built in 1970!

I keep narrowing it down to a 03/04 Cobra or the Denali pickup....mainly because of looks and the fact that my dad has a modded 06 GTO and I think it might cause some friction if both of my cars are faster than his!

I agree with Salvage6. fix the Buick or just buy another one to drive. They retain value unlike a money pit newer car ( ie: payments on a car that isn't worth what you owe). Besides, these new cars haven't impressed me yet...

If you follow this plan, you won't have to worry about money. So, if you find a house you want tomorrow (hypothetically) you won't be saddled with a stupid payment that you don't need.

Real Property is always a better choice that a car (yes, I know I should bite my tongue;) - just learned from experience)
