Whining sound when in gear

My car makes a whining sound when I put it in gear, almost sounds like a power steering pump whine. Is this a common sound from the transmission?

Mine does also but its the pwer steering pump everyone thinks its a super charger lol your best bet is to disconnect the belt and start it up see if it goes away

If it only whines in gear and not in park or neutral...most likely the torque converter. I had a converter that did that twice.

X2 ^^^, probably a Stator or Bearing/Bushing problem in TC.
