ok, after 2 long weeks of trying over and over to get my car started. i sent it to a shop to get it looked at and to get it running. turns out it only needed a new set of plugs and a new started. as to the one on there not turning over fast enough to make a spark... but FINALLY it starts up (:)) but now a new problem born from this fix... my engine compartment is covered in oil... and the when the mechanic test drove it he said its like a ball of white smoke moving down the road. he thinks its the TURBO SEAL, witch could mean why he wants to send it to a turbo shop across town. so this is were the GN stands.... new plugs, new wires, brand new starter (running) and white smoke...... so if its the turbo seal is this something i can do on my own or is it best to send it to a shop.. once again i call upon my hot air brothers to help me out...:)

The engine compartment covered in oil usually means pressurized block. The oil fill cap is plugged up and the engine cannot vent. This is what caused the oil seals to fail on your turbo. I would send out the turbo for repair but do not drive the car until the pressurized block issue is fixed. I personally removed the stock air box and oil fill tube system completely. The stock oil fill setup caused pressurized block in my car. I went with a valve cover breather instead. Keep us posted. Brad

i do have the oil breather on... i guess its gotta be what you said... so the seal is bad in my turbo... man. more money wasted... so do i send it to a shop or do i do it my self..

Don't feel bad. I went through three new turbos before the pressurized block was found to be my problem. I sent my turbo out for a rebuild. Brad

got ya... i guess one more trip to the shop then... hopefully this is the last one... but its gonna have to wait till i get money up... is g pop a better chice or the local shop would be better.

Sending you a PM on the turbo shop. Hope it helps you out some. My PM box is blocked at the moment so you can't reply, sorry about that.

Ok, not trying to bust your bubble or anything........but, ball of white smoke going down the road. ...... Probably turbo oil seal gone. Oil all over the engine compartment and you have a breather...... Possibly blown head gasket or worse. A bad turbo does not pressures the crank case. The first thing I would do when I get the car back is run a compression test and see if all the cylinders have even compression. One thing I dread about non-turbo Buick specific shops is this............ Technician A) man I wanna see how this thing pulls........spark knock @%^*%+*!!! Hey dude we took your car for a test drive and it's smoking. My question as a technician is what is need is it to test drive a car that came in for a no start condition? It started so repair is verified. Not trying to rain on your parade but I know how some mechanics do peoples cars and the customer always pays the price.

Pete

yea i asked the guy why did he drive it... i guess his balls were throbing to drive a turbo buick... geez did he do more damage to it...

You just aswered your own question...... now proving it is another situation. Since it didn't start before you brought the car in there is no way to say if it was already smoking or not. So mechanic shop 1, customer 0, that's how it always works. But I would almost bet my last dollar that he got in it and may have done more damage. You really need to do a compression test before you just slap a turbo on there and save yourself some headaches.

well just got off my lunch break and went to see the car. its spewing oil like i just struck it. well im going to go with a compression check... and then im going to rebuild my turbo with g pop... i would just need the turbo seal. ( i hope) and thats it... more as this plays through... oh and buy the way how the hell do i do a compression test...

well got some info from a new friend mr. reed. said he could redo the turbo for me.... this is just turning into a money pit here.... im just like wow here we go again... and i dont even got the car out of the shop yet i still owe a balance to get it out... man one thing after another...

white smoke

yea blown head gasket then oil starts coming out the turbo out .

so what i should do while the turbo is out getting redone is change the head gasket as well..

How much plainer can you put things???? DO A COMPRESSION TEST AND VERIFY!!!! Or be my guess go ahead and change head gaskets for nothing it's lots of fun and reallllll easy to do.:biggrin:

Don't worry about it. I've had mine for 4 years now and it's turned into a frame off.:frown: The frame's rotten so I had to get another one and the engine has a rod knock in it. Talk about not driving it yet. The most I've driven mine is on the trailer in MO and off it in Texas.
