who makes the best trans additive?

wondering which one of the transmission additives really works....i just bought a 99 trans am auto with 59,000 original miles and the trans seems to be slipping the slightest bit when going into second. do any of these actually work for a while? any opinions appreciated

I have never ever had any substance make any difference by pouring something into the oil/water/fuel/or trans. I believe it is a lot like the loose weight or stop smoking pills; some people will try anything in desperation.

I have used additives for slippage with good results. I know this doesnt "fix" the problem, but it did really help! I used to buy it at pepboys. I think its called StopSlip....or something. If I remember correctly its in a yellow bottle. Add a bottle, and see if it works. If it doesnt, add 2. In one car, it took 3 bottles to work. Here's another idea.......drain your tranny fluid and fill with type F fluid. This is a non-modified fluid, so it doesnt slip like dexron(friction modified). This could help too. Or, you can always buy another tranny or have yours rebuilt...............................

Lucas tranny additive works ok if you are really gonna put something in there. It may not be slipping, the stock Fbody 4l60es are computer controled and can feel funny with their torque management, the timing is pulled right before and during the shift and can give the impression of a slight slip. I would either do a shift kit or get a tune with LS1edit and have the line pressure raised enough to make it feel good but without hurting anything.

well after driving it around tonight and having a few people drive it, we've concluded there's nothing wrong with it. i guess i was used to the way my buick shifts and figured all sports cars should shift like that.....im going to change the fluid anyway tomorrow and put some lucas in there as well as a trans-go shift kit.

one more question....i went to get the filter kit and the guy at the parts store said theres two different ones, one for a deep pan and one for a shallow pan. anyone have experience with these cars and have any idea how i could know which one i need?

We use "Lubeguard" at work and it helps shudder, but I doubt it will help slippage. You need to know what is slipping to know if it will help. Usually, slip is caused by lack of material left on clutches/bands, or low pressures. Slips between gears can be clearance between pieces being applied, or pressure. Among other things... meaning the trans is simply worn out. And there is no additive I know of or would use to fix a worn out unit.

U should have the shallow pan, too check look at the bottom of the pan is it flat, or does it have a step in it, if flat it is the shallow pan.
