I am just curious to why everyone of us like these cars? Please tell me the story of how and why you bought your GN. My story is easy, I was sixteen years old and working at Clift Pontiac and Buick in Anadarko, Oklahoma cleaning cars. I used to sit in the new buicks and read all the articles about the GN and dream of owning one. I was to broke at the time so I never got to live that dream. Just last year I decided to sell my F-150 that was almost paid for and only 4 years old and 45,000 miles on it to purchase a GN from a one owner who took very good care of it and he  kept every single reciept, dealer tag, owner manual and everything else you can imagine with it. I consider myself a very lucky person and I am so glad I did it.

Please feel free to tell your story!

As a senior in high school I had an 87 GT Mustang. Welp tried a GN one night and he handed me my ass. Been hooked every sense:biggrin:

same with me, but i had and 88 stang.. a old man and his wife in a 87GN walked me like a dog back in 1994.. the next year i purchased my GN :)

Similar story, but it was a chick driving a GN that whipped my butt in my then '79 Z28 :D Bought mine in '91

I just plan like the way they look. But I bought an 84 cause the interior is not the same as 99% of the GN's I run into. Plus I like the fact that my v6 can put a hurting on all of my friend's v8s.

Some what long Original father n son owners story

I was 5 years old, already addicted to HOTROD and ROAD N TRACK, those were the mag's my dad would read in his spare time and I would wait till he was done reading them every month, litterally. I would sit there and wait for him to finish then I would take it. My dad said at a Dogers game one time when I was 5, I actually was talking to some guy behind us who had a lambo jacket on and I was argueing that ferrari would have been the cheaper and better performing of the two and thus the smarter car to buy, pretty funny. So anyways my Dad wanted to buy a GNX and went on the list and had the 35k-40k to buy one at the time, I have the paper work somewhere in the garage. So he gets on the list and waits, n waits, n waits. 6 months later he seriously can not wait any longer then got so pissed off he sold his waiting spot, and got a GN instead with allll the goodies; with moon roof, elec. climate controll, cruz, upgraded audio system, most opition's except the power seats I think! I have all paper work including original window stickers.

Anyways thats not even the good part yet, the only reason I remember it so well is AS we drove off the lot a few lights down we caught a red, and what of all things pulled up next to us? A brand new vette 1986; Red big chrome wheels. My dad didn't say a word, just eye balled the mother f'er while the vette had some fun with his rev'ing v8. My dad just stared at him until yellow, then he brake boosted and the turbo started spooling, and the vette owners face turned from happiness to OH ****! lol it was the funnest thing ever! So light goes green and we walked him all the way up to 60 n then my dad let off. All you hear was a loud whissssstle, and of course SCREAMing over that high pitched whistling of the turbo, you can just hear the exhaust on the vette trying and trying to keep up. It was loud, and v8'ty as I say, but the lil turbo 6 ****ped him, and hurt his feeling sooo bad, this guy didn't give a thumbs up or wave, he just slowed and turned right at the next light. What a ranker.

After letting off my dad turns to me and smiles, opens the moon roof and turns on the a/c. Then he says, "You see that son? Thats what a turbo does for a v6, pretty cool huh?" I had just about crapped my lil pants and said, "Um yea dad". Nodding my little head haha. Then he said, "Well try this on for size, they only come in black!" I thought that was like the sickest, coolest thing in the world from that point on in my life. When he launched it feel like someone was forcing a boot down my face n body, like I was being sandwhiched into the seat. After my dad just cruzed it home, moon roof open and the famous so cal kearth 101 on the radio. It was seriously movie memorable.

I'll never forget it, and Now the car is mine, we are original owners and have loved every minute of time spent behind the wheel. Im kind of glad he didn't get the GNX, but let me EXPLAIN! If he would have got the GNX we wouldn't have had any fun with it, it wouldn't have been driven NO 100k miles I can tell you that for sure. And probably would have just sat in the garage, I mean it would be worth more money now yes but, I would rather have memories instead of money soo. I have so many wonderfull memories of the GN, as a child growning up. Going everywhere from the store to the baseball games to the beach and anywere we went. My dad drove it every where and LOVED IT. He put 112,000 miles on it with minor bolt ons'. Such as exhaust, filter, chip, thing of that nature. Till I bought it and took over the sickness, found out about the clubs, then the boards and met a GANG LOAD of cool ass people. What can I say is I love the DARKSIDE, this car and its aura, its legend, its color, its smell, its sound, its looks, its ride with the rear poppin up under high boost launches, the pride runs deep in the Lozano family. Well today now I got a stand alone computer and its time to play with John Lemans old motor, so I can't wait :) I'm not caging her either, just want a sick street car so we'll see how far I get! I just watched the FAST instructional video, and now feel extremly positive and psyc'ed out about the potential of Stand Alone tunning! FAST is really quite amazing! I wish it was a standard option for a car! GM should impliment this, it would be a whole new business for them and the GM brand. Even open up some EFI FAST car bays for tunning and repairs at local GM dealers.

Any EFI car I have in the future will with out a dought, have a FAST System in it! No questions asked. The end........hows that?

Back in 1990 I bought a 1981 turbo buick V6 hot air, I always looked at the GN's with odd and liked the look and history of it and how quick they were bone stock from factory, I decided that one day I own one So far I've had 3 and won't ever regreat having purchase this beautiful cars, mine rarely sees track time or anything but its modded to go fast, Mostly is a weekend car and it gets driven to a lot to car shows or just to hang out with friends once in a while.

Well, first off I don't have a Turbo Regal....I have a regular Regal....with the 3.8 litre engine....fed by a 2 bbl carbureator....it's all naturally aspirated.....no boost here....:frown:

When I was in high school (1993-1997), G bodies were hot cars and the Buick Regal was one that I always liked, but it wasn't until last christmas I finally found one in pretty good condition for $2000.

Up until now the closest thing I've owned was an '86 Cutlass 307 auto, had it for a week and it got totalled.....circa 1996.

When I bought my Regal the first thing I thought was "this thing needs more power". My original intensions were to build a V8 that had parts readily avaliable for, in which i could build a killer engine and make it look as if the factory put the engine in there.

Hate me if you want but the engine I had in mind was a 400 Chevy. Parts are everywhere for them, they're lighter than most other V8's, and I can make 500 hp and more with one with the right parts, that's naturally aspirated of course. Now a 400 wasn't offered for a 1984 Regal but a 305 was for 1983, and a 400 and a 305 look very much alike.

I could've been a purist and set out for a Buick 455 but parts are harder to find, they weigh more, it wouldn't look as factory and besides if GM put small block Chevys in Regals, then I'm doing it.

Well then I talked to a guy over on the Malibu Racing forum that put an 87 Grand National engine in his 78 Malibu. It gave me an inspiration, especially since he claims his car is fast and gas efficient yet docile on the streets.

My whole idea was to make my Regal fast, yet not a real animal to handle on the street....you know, something I could drive to work every day if I wanted to and still give the LS1 boys a run for their money.

So I decided to can the 400 Chevy idea and set out on turboing my Regal. However as I soon learned thru word of mouth, to convert to turbo is time consuming and expejnsive, plus I'd need all the plumbing, wiring....you name it to convert my car over, which of course I'd most likely need a parts car. That's just the beginnings.....

So in a nut shell I have learned I'd be better off to sell my Regal and buy a Turbo regal, which is now my goal as I have placed an ad in the wanted forums.

But the 400 Chevy idea is still open if I can't find a car that suits me well. I've got me some $$ saved up and a 400 block in the garage....but I'll abort this idea if the right car comes along....and that would be an 86-87 T type in good condition. ;)
