I had to replace the accumulator on my PM unit but no other problems than that.

Interested in converting it to vacuum though, how does one go about doing that?

powermaster

Bought my T in'87. Powermaster went south last spring , prior to that I replaced the accumulator about 6 years ago. The dealer replaced the pressure switch in a recall while it was still under warranty. I switched over to vac brakes with satisfactory results

Switch went out when I was vacationing in Florida. Dang near wrecked. When the accumulator went bad in '95 I didn't know at the time why my brakes acted the way they did. Knowing the high cost of repair and afraid to take it to the garage I kept driving the car untill I wrecked because I triied to stop fast, the brake pedal got hard and then locked up causing me to slide out of control.

Vacuum brakes are now installed and I love them!:D

A 30-year GM mechanic said he read dealer-only Service Bulletins "back in the day" regarding the PreMenstrual Brake system being responsible for several reported underhood fires.

Convinced me!
