Won't be long until Buick is out selling those brands as China's market develops and our domestic market continues to fail.
Sad but I think even with the bailouts GM days are numbered. They are managed like the product is a refrigerator. While that works for appliances cars are very different imo. But what do I know, I drive a truck.
Bottom line is I've never bought a foreign brand and it has been well over a decade since I bought a new vehicle, and with what gm is offering I doubt any of their products would be in the running for me when I do make a purchase.

Because GM doesn't want to make anything these days to compete with their beloved vettes and camaro's that would greatly anger owners of the above mentioned. We seen what happened the last time when buick in the 60's, 70's and into the late 80's got to create stuff independant stuff and built some evil cars. GM lost sight of things and in trying to protect vettes and camaro's have shot themselves in the foot. Thank goodness they didnt feel that way before the TR's were born and the 1989 TTA's.
They don't want to repeat history and lack creativity in the other divisions in the GM camp.

How about the new
2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport Twin-Turbo V-6 !!!! Drove one today. Car ran 12.4 with just a tune .. Thats it. Street tires. What a blast driving around ! (y)

that doesn't count, because it invalidates the argument that GM only builds boring cars.
 
They should have left the V8 in the Caddys and let Buick build a RWD twin-turbo V6 car.

even if they did a ton of market research that told them that Buick buyers aren't looking for a twin turbo V6 powered car?

hate to break it to you, but it's not 1987 any more, and the mid size rwd TR that we all know and love was a 4 year flash in the pan that started as a test bed for new technology derived from the Indycar program (distributorless ignition and sequential efi) on a small displacement engine in 1984 and culminated with the GNX in 1987..
 
It doesn't have to be 84-87. It can be 2014 where they build a comfortable touring coupe with rear wheel drive, decent power and a comfortable interior. I don't want a go cart, or an import. I owned a front drive once, ONCE, and I doubt ill have another. I'll just keep buying trucks if they can't build what I want.

They've been pushing the current Turbo Regal for a few years to a demographic that I would imagine may consider something a bit more 'manly'. The key would be pricing. Many folks on this board, for instance, would love to own a Caddy CTS-V or V-Sport but the realities of life simply don't permit such an expense. If a RWD, turbo Buick was positioned price wise, between the Chevy SS and the Caddys, perhaps it may be a more realistic consideration for folks.

This idea of a car for every income is what built GM until too many models became essential clones of each other and things just soured. With the demise of Oldsmobile and Pontiac, it has really thinned the heard and the choices. In my opinion, the SS is priced too high right now (for being a Chevy) but it'd be nice to have three choices instead of just two.
 
I like that Impala SS but haven't seen any on the street yet. Maybe it isn't out yet. Being a more door I'm not really "feeling" it like I don't really feel the G8 with four doors. I get that it is handy but if I need people moved we take the Suburban. I'm not really a Chevy guy and Cadillac just seems snooty(and as pointed out, expensive). I want classy with power. Why is that so hard. Audi, and now Hyundai seem to get it. I want a Buick. I like the trishield.

Damn the new V6 Caddy is still making me a believer. Drove the car 4 hours up to Maine for the mile timed racing.. It ran 165.something.....can't post the link on u tube with this mobile thing..
